Westchester Woods Apartments

I have lived here for 2 years and really appreciate the management here after previous negative experiences at other Kzoo apartments. Justin and Andy have been very nice and have helped with any problem in a timely manner. For the few maintenance problems I have had, they have been solved within a day or 2 each time-even the silly ones I’ve had like simply not being able to open my window. The appliances may be old but they work freakishly well-I never had a major maintenance or appliance issue. While the exterior and hallway can look “sketchy,” the actual apartments are very nice and spacious, especially for the price and low utilities (my electricity bill has never been above $30 since the building is heated on a boiler system). Do not rent here. The landlord Andrew doesn't care about the property or safety of his tenants. When I was living here the first floor hallway of our building flooded anytime it rained. Causing mold to grow in the carpet. Andrew was aware of the issue for several years. It wasn't until we witheld our rent that he "fixed" the flooding himself. After failure to get a timeline on when the mold remediation would be started we chose to terminate our lease early. Andrew was rude about it but let us leave. When we moved into the unit there were multiple issues we noted on our move in paperwork. Conveniently, Andrew did not have said paperwork on record and I did not receive a signed copy. My boyfriend and I have lived at Westchester Woods for 3 years, and I have a lot of wonderful things to say about this place. I am very fortunate that we ended up here. Overall, this apartment complex is exactly what it’s advertised as, nothing luxurious, but THE most affordable apartment in Kalamazoo. It is an extremely nice space and management works hard to keep the prices of our rent low. We have a standard one-bedroom, and although the kitchen is a bit tight for those who like to cook, the rest of the apartment is spacious and there is a lot of storage (picture included to show of how large our walk-in closet is. This was one of the worst apartment experiences ever! Andrew is very rude. My first interaction with him was him yelling at another tenant very loudly in the lobby of our apartments. He constantly threatened to raise our rent and never fixed any of our maintenance issues we requested. His messages/posting on the windows were always rude and he never responds to our emails. I don't even want to even give them one star, but I can't post this without one. If you want to feel secure, safe, and happy with where you live, DO NOT live here! I don't recommend anyone living here.

Lived here for 3 1/2 years. Really not much to complain about for one of the cheapest 1 bedroom apartments in the area. The outside and the hallways are pretty rough, but my apartment was clean, freshly painted, and had new carpet when I moved in. Maintenance requests were always responded to within a day. My only real complaints would be the state of the parking lot and some of the other people that would live there. It seems your experience here (like most apartments) can vary greatly by what apartment/building you are put in and your neighbors. I lived in the same building as the office (A) and I think the biggest issue with noise would be people yelling or fighting outside occasionally. I rarely heard other people in my building, so there was no excessive partying or loud music. Overal
