Terrible title company. They sent us POAs to get notarized in order for a close relative to sign closing documents for the homebuyer as they were overseas. We executed the POAs THEY sent, and a week before closing they decided we couldn’t use them and would not allow the closing to happen. We had to push the closing back and move everything over to another title company who made zero fuss about using a POA. Southern Title jeopardized the transaction and caused undue stress to all parties involved. Don’t use them. UPDATE 9/30/22 - We spoke to multiple title companies, all of which had never heard of any such requirements that would prohibit a POA and gave me confidence that they’d be able to close the deal.
