Straus Lofts

I would like give a shout out to Sarah, she goes above and beyond her duties as property manager here. She probably doesn't get a lot of credit, but since she's been here, this building has stabilized quite a bit. I have been here 12 years and she is the best property manager I have had! Thank you Sarah, for all that you do.

We have since moved, but we had a great 6 years in Downtown Saint Paul at Straus Lofts. I don't imagine that managing Straus Lofts is easy - it probably requires a wealth of patience and people skills. Manager Tyler Raarup held the fort down better than all other managers. Sherman Associates is lucky to have him.

I LOVE our apartment. The convenience is great. I read a few reviews before I moved in, and I will admit, since I have a toddler, I had concerns. However, the on-site manager is reliable, friendly and on top of tenant safety and concerns. I know property managers have a high turnover rate, but she has been here since I have, and I would 😭 if she left! Not many care as she does. Oh, and I have never had such prompt resolutions to my maintenance issues as I have had here.

Huge lofts, management was hard to get a hold of and not the greatest about returning calls which was frustrating. I'm guessing this is why they went through so many building managers while I lived there. When push came to shove they eventually followed through on my requests, mostly a safe entryway. The parking situation became a big problem once the new saints field was constructed changing on street parking times.

If you put in a maintenance request you don't hear back for several hours and they don't even fully fix the problem. We've had a broken window since spring and all they've done to fix it is put tape on it that says "don't open" and it's now almost August again with no word on when they're fixing it. Every floor has at least one broken washer and dryer consistantly (and when property manager was informed he told me to call maintenance myself about all six broken units despite maintenance being with him when I spoke with him) and the elevator shakes and groans. The different residents have taken to leaving notes warning other residents about which washer and dryers are broken so that we all stop losing money (which they don't refund even with a formal complaint).
