Summary: This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. Old Town Realty failed to honor the lease agreement, neglected urgent repairs, and left the property in unsafe, unsanitary, and uninhabitable condition. We filed for small claims court and ultimately settled. Major Issue: Window Screens and Habitability Lease Obligation: The lease implied window screens would be included. At move-in, only 7 of 20 windows had screens. Work Order: We submitted a work order on June 3rd to replace the missing screens. By early July (30 days later), the issue was still unresolved. When touring the home, we were led to believe that additional work would be done to get the property ready for tenants. Unfortunately, from day one, the house had major issues. It was neglected, had structural concerns, and was infested with bugs. Throughout our short time there, I felt more like the housing manager than a tenant—constantly reporting problems, checking on the status of repairs, speaking with maintenance, or trying to fix smaller issues ourselves. I have rented from Old Town Realty for a number of years and have delighted in their services, rental prices, and my temporary home. The staff are terrific to work with, always kind, and prompt when responding to any of my requests. They even went beyond their standard obligations when I required additional services. I would definitely rent from them again.

I have rented with Old Town Realty for almost 2 years now since starting grad school at UofM. The price of my unit is very fair given its location and close proximity to campus. Any maintenance issues are dealt with quickly and I appreciate how communicative this company is. In addition, their maintenance people are always polite and very nice. I really haven't had any issues with Old Town Realty, which means I haven't any reasons to move!
