Highland Towers Apartments in Birmingham, Alabama

Seen some bad reviews but I don't really get it. It's affordable, old but pretty well maintained building in downtown. If you want free, private parking with top notch ac then go ahead live at Cortland Vesta across the street paying $2500 month. Simple as that. Stop whining It's downtown As far as I'm concerned, maintenance was real quick(in 12-24 hours) and area was very safe. Freddy and Bottega closes at 11p there are people everywhere until then.

I have lived at Highland Towers for 3 years. My apartment was fully renovated and the move in process was very easy. Management was extremely helpful and accommodating. They even worked quickly to get my apartment ready so I could move in as soon as possible. They also love animals! Which is huge for me. I love the area! Prime location!!! Botegga, Freddy's, And Western all right here. My view is Amazing. It's a historic building which is awesome to me. I have had some issues occur but the property manager and maintenance crew were always available and any concerns were met and repairs were done efficiently.

Lived here 3 years and it perfectly fulfilled its purpose for me. If you’re a young professional and would like to live downtown without paying $1500-$2000 for an apartment this is the place. It isn’t luxury by any means, but it’s affordable, secure, and quiet. Those walls are solid brick and you won’t hear a thing in other rooms, only the hallway. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $75 or so on a parking spot. It means a world of difference, especially if you get home between 5 and 6 PM and there is zero street parking available.

Updated review: After reconsidering my latest review, which was situational, I decided to update and adjust in accordance to my experience with highland towers. I’ve always had a great experience. The only corrections that I would make are the street parking and sometimes wonky elevator, both which are out of management’s hands. Living next to Freddy’s wine bar is a plus! Especially for long work and study days. Plumbing has never been an issue for me, which seems to be a more popular trend in this apartment vs others in highland park. It’s spacious, I have had zero bug problems, and management is always helpful.

Parking is terrible. Paying $75 per month for a parking spot here. Several times peoples car parking right in front of the building ( which is also a fire lane! Just had a real fire alarm last week!) and REFUSED TO MOVE! can’t get to the place I have to swipe the fob and get to the parking lot. reported to the manager, seems she is not doing anything. Plus, the manager replied to my email regarding the parking issue in a sarcastic way. Regarding the negative feedback, she replied " Thank you for the incredibly negative online review" Parking is the major problem other than building is old, getting mold, no central AC... happy to moving out next month! Just an unhappy resident living here.... make your choice wisely!
