Colonial Gardens Apartments

I rented here 10 treats ago. Do to having a new born baby and her father leaving I couldn’t hold the apartment so I had to break my lease. Due to breaking my lease I told her to keep my security deposit so she could pay off the next coming rent. There was no damage to the apartment AT ALL. before I left I cleaned everything head to toe and shampooed every carpet in every room. 10 years later and the girl in the leasing office won’t lease to me. She is very unprofessional. Never is there. Never answers the phone. And when you do see or speak to her she is nasty and acts like she could care less.

They will never answer their phones or be in the office. So I decide to just toss an application in their door, never heard back. People in the building came down and let me know not to move in. That they’re dirty and nobody fixes anything. To try anywhere else. Another tenant said the lady in the office is verbally telling people she’s raising their rent. They said she doesn’t feel like working and comes in for 2 hours a day, maybe three days a week. Come to find out that they’re the same price as skimmerhorn now. I would love to know who owns the complex and if they know how these tenants get treated.

The unit itself was fine. However, I had to move to be closer to my job opportunity. I gave nearly 2 months notice. It was not relayed to me in our correspondence that my deposit would be kept because of this. It would have been helpful to have been reminded if that was a clause in the lease. Any other issue they were helpful, but the lack of communication in this aspect was incredibly inconvenient. Edit: After a month there was a response (see below), however, this is the only response I've received and not even an e-mail or call first to go over this review. I did not receive a notice why the deposit is being held stating the animal damage. I should have stated that my statement above was conjecture, but did not think that pet damage would be the reason. However, without a notice

It took five stops in-person and even more unanswered/unreturned phone calls to finally reach someone in the leasing office. The leasing agent/property manager is NEVER in during business hours, my calls have been answered not once. I finally got a hold of a paper application and returned it via mail, only to never hear back. Oof.

I live at Colonial Gardens for the 2nd time. I am so impressed by how the maintenance guys keep this place up! They are incredibly hard workers and deserve so much credit. The rent is very reasonable in comparison the other local rentals. I'm allowed my dog which was key. It's very quiet. I've really enjoy my time here.
