Allmand Properties - Ann Arbor Housing

Completely predatory – avoid at all costs. Allmand had us sign two leases so that they didn't have to comply with the Right to Renew statute the Ann Arbor city government passed. Because of this, they were able to lease our apartments out from under us without any adequate notice.

They're currently running a facebook housing group that they sometimes post an ad to, but besides that they leave the group free to scammers. Almost every post is a scam post, and the few legit posts have dozens of scam replies. Seems like a good indication of how they treat their customers, by leaving a group like this out and enabling scammers. Not sure what is worse, the disregard for the safety of others or the incompetence here.

I am currently been living in these apartments for almost a year. For starters the apartment was infested with ants and it took someone weeks to come out and fix it. Secondly we were forced to move without being notified of the lady Sharon who works at the office claims to have told us, when in reality we never received any forms telling us anything! So now we have a few weeks to find a new place for no reason!

UM Students: Watch out for these guys. Their properties are generally in poor condition (old houses with minimal maintenance). Our house had a ground floor that was caving in, and the whole place was infested with insects. The landlord will jump at the chance to give your house to someone else next year, so that they can charge a much higher monthly rent, and they will just tell you "sorry." Even if you do choose to renew, they will increase your rent every year. Lastly, they don't accept any 21st century form of payment- forget about direct deposit, Paypal, Venmo...you'll be driving checks to their office every month. My advice: rent somewhere else if you can.

Great place for student in Michigan - friendly staff and quick maintenance people. Highly recommended.
