Alight Birmingham

This has been one of the worst experiences I have had. This is my third year living here, and I lived here because my friends were living here and rent is cheap. Alight Birmingham has consistently been problematic and very difficult to work with. I am so thankful this is my last year with them. Over my experience, the complex has been consistently dirty and disorganized, there have been gunshots in the apartment complex multiple times with a robbery practically right outside my room. On top of that they give very little notice when they are doing maintenance. The one thing positive I will say is that rent is cheap, and that’s all the only good thing about it.

I've really come to appreciate how much natural light this apartment gets. It makes the space feel so open and welcoming, no matter the weather outside. Plus, the layout is surprisingly functional, making it easy to keep things organized and tidy. It's definitely become a comfortable and enjoyable place to call home.

I was just here for 2 months for the summer and it is the worse place I’ve ever lived. First of all, when I moved in my apartment was nasty and both the shower and toilet were broken. It took 5 days for them to fix the shower. My apartment had flies, roaches, and ants. It also smelled bad. The dryer was broken. My roommates have been submitting maintenance requests since March about it (5 in total!) every time it just gets marked as complete and they never come to look at it. The AC broke twice. The fire alarm once went off for 2 hours straight (it doesn’t help that they chose the worst alarm noise for it) And despite the apartment being “pet free” there is dog poop all over the hallways. DO NOT LIVE HERE. If it were possible to rate zero stars, that’s exactly what I would do for Alight Birmingham. I thought I was saving money by choosing this complex, but what I’ve experienced is nowhere near worth the stress, the lack of support, and the unprofessionalism. I have faced serious issues as a tenant, including situations where I felt my rights were not respected. Despite repeated attempts to reach the office — calling multiple times over several hours — the phone went unanswered, even during business hours. This level of customer service is unacceptable for any housing provider. The reviews you see here are accurate. I made the mistake of assuming it would be different for me. Lived here from Aug 2021 to July 2025. The rent is cheap, but that is where the positives stop. The fire alarms constantly go off, especially in the middle of the night. The “package room” is unorganized, and half of the time your packages aren’t scanned in. There were car break-ins constantly (including my own which was thousands of dollars to get fixed). Cars were also routinely stolen, yet there are still no security cameras or security personnel. My unit on the fourth floor had 3 different dryers, 4 different AC units, multiple leaks in the ceiling, and 2 refrigerators. It would be nearly 90 degrees in the summer with no AC, and it would take us begging to get a portable AC. The trash rooms are often overflowing, but the maintenance men have recently really started to help with that.
