Whispering Oaks Apartments

I want to say that the maintenance staff in this building are very nice, and I have never had any issues with them. If you are planning to live in this building, however, be aware that there is no on-site management. You have to communicate through email or cellphone for any problems. Yesterday, I had a bad experience with Akelius when they tried to charge me $75 for locking myself out of my apartment. All they needed to do was provide a one-time code to access the door, since it works with a PIN.

From my initial inquiry, Bryttni assisted me immediately. Her professionalism truly stood out—she guided me through the rental application seamlessly and answered all of my questions. When I first moved in, I had a memorable experience catching up with James from maintenance, who happily showed me unique features and shared helpful tips about my unit. Talk about going the extra mile! Overall, the property is clean, well-maintained, and quiet—especially compared to other properties in Arlington. As someone who works remotely, this has been incredibly beneficial. I also appreciate the thoughtful intent behind Akelius’s appliance and design selections: everything is functional, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing. I would definitely recommend this property.

The maintenance staff of Mike, James and Ron are the best at Whispering Oaks. They are responsive and get the job done on their first try. On the other hand, the management lingers behind and they have trouble answering their phones and emails. Honestly, the apartment would run better if the maintenance team ran the show.

Living at whispering Oaks has been the most uncomfortable and stressful situation I have ever been in. Before coming to whispering Oaks I noticed they had poor reviews and I chose to ignore it because I felt that only people who are upset left bad reviews. I am here to share facts. They turn off the air conditioning and turn on the heater towards the winter season. There are always a few days of heat during the beginning of the winter season that we struggled through. Today it is 85° outside and 80° in my apartment and they have advised that I will need to wait because they did not plan accordingly and the vendors who fix the AC will not be here for another few days. Apartment is nice enough, but if you like living comfortably do not live here. It is currently early April and almost 90 degrees outside and I thought I was just being slow not knowing how to use the thermostat. NOPE. I called the property manager and apparently they turn off the AC in the building and there is no cool air in the apartments until they turn it on. I was told to put in a maintenance request to which the answer was, "open a window or buy a fan there's nothing we can do". That's all nice to say when you're not the one sitting in it. Incredibly inconsiderate with absolutely no mention of this situation during showing. But they will pester you for their first deposit... of course.
