I overall did not enjoy my time living at Urban Exchange, primarily because of the poor attitude and service from the management team. During my year living here, the hallways throughout the building constantly had an odor and the carpets looked disgusting. There were several times that the trash shoot was broken and the response from management (instead of a timely repair) was to “take our trash back to our apartment”. I also recall two different occasions where the elevator was broken and my roommate and friend got stuck and it returned them to their original floor. This would be an important consideration if you are looking at Urban because of physical disabilities and it’s accessibility, since there is only one elevator per side. Additionally, there were several times the garage door t

I forgot to add in my previous review, both tenants were charged $1,500 “security deposit” 1/2 of that is “non refundable.” we lived there for almost 3 years, when we first moved in the washer had nasty water sitting in it, i tried draining it and scooping the water out myself which didn’t help so i contacted maintenance to which i was told to do what i had already done. once i explained that i already did they they finally came and looked at it and after almost a week with no washer they finally brought a replacement. they tried to charge both tenants a little over $200 for “floor problems” within the first week of us living there and the charges weren’t taken off until we sent an email and they claim it was a mistake. the elevators and garage doors are constantly broken. we just moved ou

Moving into Urban Exchange has been the easiest, friendliest move I've ever experienced. The office staff are helpful and good to talk with if you have questions about moving in, or problems in your units. The management has been fast at responding, and has helped ensure that the unit is in good condition for my room mate, my dog, and me. My room mate and I toured a location, and had all our questions answered on the tour. The unit we ultimately moved into was different from the first one for which we went to sign. Mary, the property manager was helpful in making the changes, and after getting our keys, the apartment we walked into was clean, functioning, and extremely well cared for. We ran into a small paperwork problem regarding my dog, which was my fault. But rather than making me fe

I lived at Urban from June of 2013 until June of 2016. Overall my experience at Urban was a positive one. My place was spotless when I moved in, and generally speaking, the entire building was always kept very neat. Management was extremely helpful in finding me a place at urban while I was searching from Afghanistan. The paperwork process was not complicated, maintenance (though slow to respond to my broken thermostat) was effective in fixing the few issues I had, and it is one of the few places I came across that had tenant-only parking within the structure. The building is also pet-friendly. There is a fee associated with having a pet; however, it is commensurate with what other places in Harrisonburg will charge for a pet. While I would like to see Urban Exchange install some Electric

I lived there for 7 years (moved out Dec 2024) and it was good at first with underground parking (which you pay extra for), trash, internet, and close to down town. As the years went on it got progressively worst. With Urgies there was a lot more drunks who trashed the sidewalks. Lots of broken glass and beer cans around. Though it says its pet friendly I would not recommend this to any dog owners. The management got harder to get in touch, the mail room was just a dump pile and you have to dig through other people's packages to find your own. But the breaking point was when they would go into my apartment with little to no notice for stuff that didn't need to be done. Like they installed a router in my apartment that I didn't request and unplugged my personal one in doing so. I had to go
