Uptown Apartments

Toured Uptown and was very impressed. Really nice 2 bedroom unit with an island in the kitchen and granite countertops. Love the large window in the living area to bring in plenty of light. There is a fitness room and a lovely outdoor patio with grills. Was concerned due to the 1 star prior reviews but looks like they are under new management. Black Swan has been very responsive. Looks like the building is a quality build too. Even though it's close to the freeway, you couldn't hear any freeway noise in the apartment.

They charged me double rent. I took my account off of auto pay when they were fixing it. They never told me it was fixed, then charged me a late fee on the second of the month. Refused to remove it even though I do not have a history of late payment. Lane Johnson is just terrible to people, seriously one of the worst representatives I’ve ever dealt with. I was so put off after lane insisted I pay the $100 late fee, I broke my lease that had 13 months left on it. No regrets, not my only problem and I will never rent with this terrible company again.

Black Swan is literally the worst apartment management I've ever had to deal with in the many years of renting apartments in different cities. I suspect all of the recent 5-star reviews were written by those who either received some sort of benefit for their review or have ties to Black Swan. I lived here for almost a year before they bought the property from INH. They start off by increasing the rent by $200/month, which is a rate that is unheard of. With an increase in fees, you would expect at least the same level (if not better) of apartment management, but there has been a notable deterioration (agreed by multiple tenants) in the frequency and quality of landscaping around the apartment complex. I absolutely love hanging out on the rooftop terrace and soaking in the sunlight! The units all have awesome kitchens (some with great big islands) and this building gets tons of natural light. The location can't be beat!!! It will be on the Bus Rapid Transit when that goes live too!

I'm moving to Rochester in a few months and was interested in this place for the pricing and location. While the apartments look beautiful online, I cannot even get in touch with anyone here. They do not have a website, they are listed on facebook and 3rd party websites, which all say "call today!" I have found 4 different phone numbers that are linked to these apartments and all 4 went to the same voicemail (Samantha?). So, I'm assuming they don't have a leasing office? I left a voicemail, I have sent messages and emails, and not a single person has responded or contacted me. This is extremely unprofessional and is a huge red flag that it's this difficult to reach anyone. I can't imagine what the tenants here must experience. I will definitely not be living here.
