Uptown Apartments

The manager here is nothing shy of lazy and Rude and very unprofessional! I applied here over 4 different occasions and was denied based off of his opinion alone , yet applied to the sister company and was approved by corporate! He doesn’t call you to let you know why you were denied or anything. Just accepts the applications and payments. He’s uncertain about the credit requirements also , so calling defeats the purpose because he’ll tell you , you could still qualify just to have you submit the applications knowing he doesn’t accept any collections including phone bills and that’s even if you’ve paid all debt off. Lived there when they were Lucas Creek Apartments. Every time I would drain the bathtub or take a shower it would leak into the kitchen. Like putting a bucket down first was a priority. Was anything ever done. No. I was able to finally get base housing and moved out. Worst apartment I ever lived in. Looking at the photos I doubt they actually fixed things properly with all that mold. Let’s not forget all the shootings in the area.

I visited Uptown Apartments in newport news today to inquire about 1 or 2 bedroom for my daughter! Mike was extremely unprofessional. HE ACTED AS I came in at the wrong time. I asked about availability, he said did I look on the website! I responded yes! He proceeds to pull out his phone and took me to website. Had no conversation just ended by saying go to the website! It was very uncomfortable and had no interest in addressing a possible tenant! He had a blank stare as if he was done with my 2 minute visit. Not welcoming and you should consider having a staff member with such demeanor.

Do not move into this complex. I lived there for a few yrs. There's been multiple shootings stray bullets hitting people's cars. I had 3 opossums (possums) removed from my unit by the game warden there is a rodent and roach infestion under the foundation of these units. And when we decided to move out on good terms while on month to month. They trying to keep my deposit even tho no damage to the unit at all. They trying to use a technicality to keep my deposit and charge for a month of rent after I moved out. They will try to ruin your credit history and rental history when you move out. And you can't talk to the people behind the scenes pulling the strings because it goes to voicemail. Jodi will not return your calls. So you have to take things to the next level with these people. Me and my family been living here for years. I do not recommend moving here if you have other options. The AC will just stop working in the middle of the summer. This has been happening since summer 2020. The floor towel and carpet comes up. It has constantly been different staff in the rental office for the past 4 years now. The rental office hours will get switched up without the residents being informed about it. These apartments need to be renovated or torn down to just start all over.
