Tuffy Properties

I am a past tenant and have been gone for almost 3 years. I’ve had an ongoing water bill from the city of Richmond for almost 4k! I lived alone and wrote numerous letters and calls but could not resolve it. It was heading for collections. Nancy in the office wrote me a letter and motorized it about the leaks. This made all the difference! My bill is zero and I’m getting a check refund from public utilities. Thank you so much Tuffy and Nancy! She acted quickly and I received the letter within days! Without it I’d have been responsible for that.

We moved in last weekend to our new apartment. All of our dealings with Nancy and Randy from the intial walk through to signing a new lease have been wonderful. Very clear communication - they were willing to negotiate the paperwork and even discounted pet fees. My job deals with property managers all over Virginia - most of whom are horrible and don't care at all about their residents. Everything I've experienced with Tuffy has been a breath of fresh air compared to the experiences other property management companies offer. I will say that you should pay close attention to the initial walk through because we had several fixtures like the smoke detector sitting on a shelf undone and the wall plates for outlets were missing. I wish the place had been cleaned better before we moved in - but

I have been renting commercial Property at 1811 Huguenot Road for 2 1/2 years. I have never had a problem with Tuffy Properties. I have found Randy Carl very easy to work with. Whether it was having an item repaired, replaced or re-negotiating a lease, they have treated me with utmost respect. All repairs and/or concerns have been addressed in a timely manner. My recommendation to anyone leasing a property anywhere, regardless of who you are renting from whether residential or commercial, is get everything in writing. You are signing a legally binding contract. Treat signing a lease as you would any other contract, iron out the details before you sign.

This is not a well run property business. The apartments are falling apart an maintenance is slow to respond. When I moved in there were several holes in the wall, the paint was in a deplorable state and the blinds were broken. The washing machines in the laundry room where frequently in need of repair. The staff also likes to enter, and show off the apartments without prior notice. Upon move out, Tuffy properties kept nearly half my $895 security deposit despite the fact that the apartment was in better shape when I moved out than it was when I moved in. Do not rent from these people.

Where do I start? moving in, they only gave me one key to the home that had two locks on it, so I was locked out of my apartment for a full 24 hours, because they didn't want to have to call a locksmith on their Sunday off. This is day one, mind you. Eventually, we made our way into the apartment that had not been painted after the last tenant left, the wall filled with holes, a broken baseboard, and the door to the hot water heater room completely off of its hinge. But whatever. We moved in in April, but it was still cold, and the apartment was IMPOSSIBLE to keep warm because of how drafty it was due to the gaping cracks around the doors and windows (no utilities included, so you can imagine how expensive this was) The toilet leaked and ran water all day, this took them over a month to pr
