The Wainwright Downtown Apartments

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible six years I spent at The Wainwright. It truly was a fantastic place to call home. The location, the apartments, and the amazing rooftop were all wonderful. However, it was the dedicated people working at The Wainwright who truly made my stay memorable. Since you've taken the helm, Penni, your efforts in enhancing the decor and implementing a new security system have made the experience even better. I am particularly appreciative of the outstanding maintenance team, whose hard work and dedication ensured that all our needs were met promptly and efficiently. Thank you once again for providing such a warm, welcoming, and well-managed community.

Penni Starry has been great to work with! She went above and beyond to help me find a great apartment here and made the whole process very smooth. She’s super friendly, quick to respond, and genuinely cares about connecting with her tenants. Penni has been there for every question I’ve had, even just for a friendly chat! The apartments themselves are beautiful with great views and an awesome rooftop lounge. Plus, concrete construction makes the rooms super quiet! Highly recommend both Wainwright Apartments and Penni if you’re looking for a new place!

Avoid this building! Have lived here for 4 years and within the last year the property management company has changed multiple times and is currently incompetent. The building is now "managed" by Melissa Sparks of Carlisle Management Properties who is not on-site but regularly adds false charges to residents' rent. She has overcharged me for the last 3 months including a "late" charge of $85 even though I paid rent early. The latest scam is surreal: residents paying $75 a month for parking had their cars towed and had to pay $200 to get them back and this charge has NOT been refunded. Apparently Melissa Sparks decided to get new parking decals. Rather than doing her job and looking up who she is taking money from (parking is $75.) and giving a decal to each of these residents in an envelop

We were astounded by the amount of attention we received when looking for an apartment. The front office (Penni) took care of us and helped make the transition flawless. She is the reason we chose Wainwright. She is a gem!

My son recently moved to Norfolk and Penni Starry made that process so easy for us. She went the extra mile to make sure he was comfortable with his apartment and always had someone to go to if he needed anything.
