The Richmond at Uptown

I stayed at The Richmond at Uptown for 2 years and my first year was great. (Special thanks to Breanna in the leasing office, she’s amazing and the best person to ever work there) There were residential events, friendly staff and it was so secure/safe. Within the last year of my stay, I began to experience a lot of problems. There would be random nights where fire alarms would go off and everyone would be evacuated out of their apartments for hours until fire trucks came, homeless people would invade the stairwells, garages and community areas, the doors to the entrance of the building were often disconnected. During the hurricane and other severe weather events, the apartment complex was the only place in the area without electricity. No form of compensation or efforts made to the reside

Renewing my lease was such a positive experience because of Ariel! She’s incredibly sweet, attentive, and always willing to help with any question or concern. It really feels like she cares about making things easier for residents. Definitely a credit to the company and a pleasure to talk to!

Considering to move out. Elevators are not working for 2 months, the PDK system goes down frequently, so there is open wide gate, safety of residents is not the first priority. Because of the system went down again on Friday, there is NO access to the mail room and there is very important delivery that I have no access until Monday. Manager Kirby is aware but nothing they can do. If you decide to extend the contract , the rental will be raised for current residents for $100 and plus monthly $75 administration fee from each apartment for no improvements and outdated system and broken elevators and safety issues and damaged or towed cars ($300 per day for towed car), and the towing truck will wake you up every midnight with its siren if you live close to the garage.

I am writing this review to warn others about the serious security issues at Uptown Richmond Apartments (formerly Avenue R). On September 5th, my apartment was burglarized, and the only item stolen was my safe. No electronics or other valuables were touched. This was highly suspicious because the safe was hidden in my closet, and the only people who knew of its location besides myself were maintenance staff, who recently came into that same closet to replace a light bulb. This burglary felt premeditated. Weeks prior, I noticed a large work boot print on my balcony, which told me my home was being watched. Access to my patio is only possible for residents or staff who already have property access, which makes it even more concerning. The burglar knew exactly where to go, as if they had ins

Ariel did an amazing job with my move-in! She was professional, efficient, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free.
