The Nest At University Center

So far living here I've had a great experience. All of the leasing staff are so nice and are always willing to help. A big plus for me is being walking distance to Winthrop's campus. If you are a student it is a great price but add ons like pool view and parking do bump up your rent so it is a bit pricey. I only knocked off a star for the construction but other than that I've had a great time renting a unit!

Living here is an absolute nightmare. Construction starts early every week day morning. Parking is expensive and impossible. All the grass around this building is covered in tons of dog poop. Rather than fix any problems they like to just send angry emails. For example the front door is always broken and never locked so they’ll email us to start closing the door like it’s our fault instead of just fixing it. And another example, the hallways will be drenched in trash. They take the effort to put signs on everyone’s door about it, but it takes weeks for staff to simply just clean it. The mail system is completely terrible. I’ve had multiple packages unable to be delivered and were delayed for no reason. I moved here to keep from having to drive an hour both ways and staying at the nest is convenient but it’s just not worth it due to no parking and being charged to pay $75 a month to park in a garage. We have key fobs to access our apartment and all the doors of the building but what’s the point when the main door is broken and constantly stays open which is a huge safety concern. Also it doesn’t seem as though you get an opportunity to be late on rent as I had a roommate who was late and then was served an eviction notice within like 14 days. If it’s student living then you would think you’d have a grace period. It’s comfortable living for college which is good so parents can feel less worried but other than that, the Nest can benefit from new management and more experienced maintenance

The Nest has been one of the most frustrating places I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve been trying to move out and I ended up doing more work than the management itself. I found someone to take over my lease, handled the communication, and still the process has been dragged out with zero urgency. The manager, Emma (or whoever is in charge), has been unresponsive and unhelpful throughout the entire situation. Simple tasks turn into long delays, and no one seems to take responsibility or provide clear answers. At this point, the lack of professionalism is unbelievable. This place seriously needs better management and better communication. I wouldn’t recommend The Nest to anyone considering moving here they make the residents do all the work while offering no support in return.

I was so excited to live here, but it has been constant disappointment. It is always dirty, especially in the elevators and in the hall. The lawn outside is covered in dog poop. Trash will randomly not be picked up when we pay for valet trash, and then we are threatened to be fined if the trash is not put back in our room by 9 AM. The population of people who live here are irresponsible and disrespectful to fellow tenants as well as the complex. Fire alarms are frequent, as weed is always being smoked in some apartments. The roommate matching is horrible. We had a roommate move out and her room was empty and uncleaned for months.
