My wife and I lived at The National Old City from September 2022 to March 2025, and our experience was absolutely wonderful. From day one, Amanda and Mike went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They greeted us with warm smiles and friendly hellos every time we entered the building, and it was clear they genuinely cared about their residents. They also did an amazing job fostering a sense of community. Throughout our time there, they hosted several happy hours, holiday door decoration competitions, and community events that made the building feel like more than just an apartment complex, it truly felt like a home. This building is chintzy for luxury apartments and Old City doesn't really feel safe anymore since around when Kensington was cleared out. A lot of homeless and many of them out late at night yelling or having episodes. One regular in the neighborhood freaks out in the proximity of little dogs. Just the other night (writing this in Nov 2025) I saw a guy violently smashing windows yelling at someone at 3rd and arch. When we moved into Old City a year ago it felt much safer, but we know a few people getting harassed or assaulted on Market st now by aggressive junkies. The building itself is cheap, like the cabinets are not solid wood but have this fake plastic cover on all of them. I can hear my neighbor on work calls next door in my 1 bedroom unit. Lovely place to rent in Old City Philadelphia. What an incredible area of the city! So many different options for food, exercise, shopping and historical sites!! I highly recommend making a reservation with Mike to do a walk through. He is so knowledgeable about every inch of The National Old City Apartments. He was helpful in finding a good place to get monthly parking. The National does have parking onsite but only a few spots. Definitely get on there waiting list ASAP. Very spacious rental apartments and tons of amenities. Gotta checkout there Roof Top Deck !!

Ive lived in literal hovels in the Deep South Bible Belt and never lived in a worse place than here at The National in Old City. This was the most expensive place I’ve ever lived- you’re paying for location alone and it isn’t worth it. The staff is undertrained and every appliance and private amenity was nonfunctional. The apartment they had me move into was NOT the layout i signed up for and they were *apparently* not available to meet me after move in despite setting the time themself. The latter scenario happened over and over again. They are unable to answer any questions for you accurately and just want you to sign a lease- they arent willing to do research or even verify to correct answer to crucial things. I lived at the National for 4 years, and I have nothing but good things to say about the building, the staff, maintenance, and my experience. If there were any maintenance issues, I was confident staff would show up usually within a few hours (possibly next day if the request was not urgent). I had a laundry machine continually give errors, and they showed up within the day to replace the laundry machine with a new one. I also cannot say enough good things to say about Amanda and Mike as they have both made the apartments feel like home. In addition to all the staff, the building is also great. I have never lost a package, and the Amazon locker in the building is very convenient. The cleanliness of the building is always very well maintained, and I constantly see little paint touch ups as
