This building has started belching out black smoke from the roof every day. Nobody wants to breath this in, please clean up your building!

We lived in the Monterey from August 2022 to August 2024. The good: The first year was incredible. We loved the building and the exceptionally kind, attentive doormen and maintenance. The neighborhood is great: close to the 6 and Q trains, just a 10–15 minute walk to the park, and surrounded by several excellent restaurants and cafes. The proximity to the hospitals meant frequent sirens, but we didn’t mind. The bad: Everything changed in the second year when construction began. Promises about when it would end were not kept, and eventually, no timeline was given at all. If you’ve read other reviews mentioning construction noise, believe them. When work was happening on our floor or line, staying inside became unbearable. I had a hybrid work schedule but had to commute to my office just t

I’ve been living at The Monterey for three years now, and we’ve been so pleased with our experience. We benefit from a great location—close to the park and the subway—with charming little shops and restaurants nearby. It’s also very kid-friendly. The building is well maintained, with a beautiful rooftop and a playroom in the gym. The gym is definitely a big plus, offering great classes throughout the week. Building management has always been very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Lived here for a year and will be moving out soon. Upon signing my lease, I did not realize how noisy the daily construction would be. I moved from Florida and did not have much time to view the apartment, no one in management warned me about the daily noise that makes these apartments uninhabitable. Due to construction, the pool was closed for half a year, the garden also has been closed and the roof for months. The elevators are frequently out of service or used by construction workers and they frequently have water shut offs for hours at a time. Management office is terrible. The only nice thing about this building are the people who work the security desk. I would not recommend this building to anyone. Don’t move here. Update: I’ve included a video to document the noise level. Imagi

Most of the 5-star reviews are clearly fake, it’s easy to tell once you’ve lived here. The reality is a nightmare. There’s daily construction and renovations with unbearable noise that makes it impossible to live or work from home. It’s so constant and loud, it will seriously impact your mental health. The property is full of hidden fees and shady policies. The management will look for any excuse to withhold or deduct money from your security deposit. The terrace area is infested with roaches. Yes, roaches, in what they call a “luxury” building. The elevators go out of service constantly and the fire department has to take care of all the people inside. Management is unresponsive and dismissive, even though rent here is over $5,000 a month. They don't care about residents, only about s
