The Grad San Jose

It’s kinda concerning to see all the fake 5 star reviews reviews here, and while it is unfortunate they couldn’t figure out a way to allow people impacted by COVID-19 to break their lease, I understand that as a brand new complex The Grad’s financial situation probably isn’t looking too good itself. As someone who still has in person classes this upcoming semester I’m looking forward to moving in next month, and I have have nothing but good experiences throughout the lease process and they were ready and willing to answer any questions I had. Update: Move in was terrible. Even the “low contact” option forced me to wait in line for several hours with at least a hundred other people. Currently looks like half the building has been in a power outage for over 3 hours.

New property management company is excellent - they are great to work with and communicate professionally. 12 of our 13 student-athletes from the men's basketball team reside at The Grad and all have had tremendously positive experiences. Property is well-kept and provides great amenities for anybody, but particularly students. Could not recommend enough.

The Grad and their new management has been great with helping me move in and get used to my new living space. The management has been approachable and easy to talk to about anything I need fixed or if I have any concerns. They also offer great amenities like gym and pool access. I 100% recommend The Grad to others, it’s a great place to live with a lot of amazing views.

I had signed my lease renewal back in November, but due to some life changes I had to make the decision to move out. I spoke with Brandon on the phone, and he was super helpful with any questions I had. I've been living here since 2023 but the new management has made everything around the complex better overall, compared to before. They've handled situations like mine that could've been potentially stressful, with such great professionalism and were great with accommodating me. I really appreciate the help!

I had an unpleasant experience during move-in on August 18 while waiting in line for the elevators with my daughter and her friend. The lobby was very busy, and a few people unintentionally cut in front of us. I politely clarified our spot with one staff member, and she understood without issue. However, another staff member, who had no name tag, and was too busy talking to three male students abruptly turned to me in a rude and dismissive tone and told me to “go to the back of the line.” Without knowing the situation, he spoke from a position of authority in a way that came across as a clear microaggression.This was disrespectful, unprofessional, and dismissive toward a parent.
