The thin walls make it almost unbearable. Its torture. Ive been here 5 months and its rare that I can make it through a whole night without being awoken by any type of noise. I can hear every single word my neighbors say. I can hear my neighbors snore. This has to be some type of code violation or something. Probably not but its mental torture for real. Other than that I do like my apartment and the building and amenities. The maintenance is always fast with issues and repairs. If they could do something about the walls, the place would be perfect but I don't think that's possible. If you're a heavy sleeper you'd love it, if not its actually unlivable.
This apartment building has a lot of mixed reviews, but I have had a great experience so far. I moved in about a month and a half ago. The apartment was super clean when I moved in, and leasing company had great communication about move in arrangements. During my search, Sophia showed me many different units to fit my budget and what I was looking for. She was super kind and answered all my questions and emails promptly. I settled with a 1br that was cheaper than any I saw around the area, had the most amenities, and felt safest for me to live by myself. I got lucky and secured a unit with what feels like a private entrance off the private courtyard. That enough was a selling point for me. I don’t have surrounding neighbors so noise is minimal, sometimes can hear upstairs neighbors walkin
After reading some reviews I had to come on and leave my own. The building is under new management and I have had nothing but a great experience with them. My approval process took 3 days. The leasing office answers fairly quickly (though they could definitely answer the phone with more than a hello). The views are great, the amenities are nice as well. The gym is basic but exactly what you pay for. And this whole $150 filter complaint is silly. You are paying for the filter to be changed and the labor it cost same as going to get a car filter changed. I’ve also never lived somewhere in which the maintenance staff were so nice and so quick. I once put in a request at 8:45 am and it was fixed by 9:20 am.
Story time. I’m past all of this but am sharing in case it saves someone else the trouble. If you want ANY form of peace, DO NOT move to the new north building. I moved there specifically in search of a well insulated space after being released from my previous lease 3 mos early due to a neighbor w/ ongoing sleep apnea issues (previous landlords were awesome). I’d been dealing w/ that for 3 mos. Nothing negative to say about my last apt. During my tour for Gotham North I explained my situation & made it VERY clear I needed someplace w/ little noise transference. I was assured repeatedly that there were very few noise complaints & that the concrete in the bldg would keep interference at a minimum. The leasing agent (who I later learned had quit following my move in) also reminded me of the
reviewing the Gotham North: My main complaints about this building are the extremely thin walls and the maintenance issues upon move-in. When I first arrived, there were several repairs needed, which was disappointing since everything should have been inspected beforehand. The walls are so thin that it often feels like I’m sharing a room with my neighbor — I can hear nearly everything. The exposed ceiling pipes also carry sound, so I frequently hear water running through them whenever my neighbors are using the bathroom. On top of that, noise from outside easily carries into the apartment. On a positive note, maintenance is very responsive. However, they sometimes arrive without prior notice, which could be an issue. The amenities are located in the tower building — the gym is basic, but
