Listen, I need to defend the neighborhood a little. I’ve been living in the Morten House for two years with my partner. I am a young woman, I work weird hours (often home at 11pm). I walk everywhere at all hours of the day and I have never once felt unsafe. I LOVE this neighborhood. I love that there are two coffee shops within walking distance and a library. I love the proximity to PNC Park and Heinz Field. I love that Allegheny Commons is across the street and hosts so many events, including an awesome farmers market in the Summer/Fall. There are so many breweries, Randyland, The Mattress Factory, National Aviary, Children’s Museum… I literally can’t say enough good things about the charm of the Mexican War Streets and its hidden gems! Plus if you take the bus, the station is right acro

It’s been almost two years since we moved into the Residences at the Garden. We could not be happier with our decision to make this our home in Pittsburgh. The apartment building is brand new, beautiful, clean, well staffed with friendly knowledgeable people and is in a fantastic location. There’s a center courtyard that is a common area with ping-pong and outdoor grill and many other nice features to make this feel more like a home than an apartment building. The building is steps away from good restaurants, both casual and fine dining, museums, and the historic Mexican War streets. But one of the best things about the location of this apartment building is that it is directly across the street from Allegheny Commons Park. Allegheny Commons Park is a beautiful park where you can relax

I went to visit a coworker at her apartment. When the place opened a few years ago, there was a lot of excitement, it seemed to be a great location with the park across the street and the restaurants, and being able to walk to PNC Park, however, over the last year they changed management and things were not run as well. One weekend the elevator was urine stained, and it was not cleaned until the following week. In addition, there are a lot more homeless people that gather in the parking garage and also attempt to enter the building’s foyer. I would not want my daughter living in this environment. Is a shame that things changed so much with how the apartment was handled. I have friends in the zone 1 police station and I recently asked them about how the area was. They said things are g

My cousin lived there and said after the management changed things went downhill very quickly. The place was no longer clean and simple concerns were not responded to by management. This is unfortunate as the apartment complex has great potential and there is a lot to do in the neighborhood. However, based on her very negative interactions with management and their failure to show any courtesy or response I would definitely not recommend this place.

Visited here often as my sister lived here. Many points: 1. Management is HORRIBLE. They threatened my sister with legal action and REFUSED to show her CCTV of her friendly dog “being aggressive.” We all know what refusal to show CCTV means. 2. To no fault of the complex, this place is in a very unfortunate location. Not safe for young women. 3. The garage worked about 50% of the time. Thank god I never had anywhere important to be when it didn’t work. 4. My sister had a hole in her wall the entire time she lived there, because of maintenance to the thermostat that was never finished. 5. Management is unbearably rude and unreasonable. Nika caused my sister multiple months of emotional and financial issues. I would warn against the garden as well as other complexes in this ownership.
