My wife and I are in the process of building a new home at Epcon’s Harvest Ridge in Ankeny. It will probably be completed in late summer of 2026. We are downsizing and moving to Ankeny which has everything we need to retire. We have lived in the country for the last 30 years in a ranch with a walkout basement on 2.6 acres of land. Living in the country is great when you’re young enough to mow the yard and blow the snow. This isn’t so great at our age now so moving to a place that does the mowing and snow removal was a big plus for us. The Epcon homes are built on a slab so there is no need to worry about water in the basement or if your sump pump will run when it’s needed. They are also zero entry from the garage and porch so climbing stairs with a heavy load of groceries will no longer be

My wife and I plan to return from Arizona close to the old home place (at least in the same square mile as the old family farmhouse.) We are purchasing a new home in the Courtyards at Harvest Ridge, an Epcon Community. The city of Ankeny has recently annexed property as far north as NE 126th Avenue and beyond. Our family farmed land on the south side of the avenue for over 100 years. When we were to buy in the area, however, we wanted the satisfaction of living in our new home as long as we could, so Epcon worked with us all the while we waited for approval by Wesley Life’s Well Ahead program that is designed to do just that. The staff at Epcon and Wesley Life have been incredibly helpful working together throughout this entire process. The building is progressing nicely on a Casina mode

We are very happy we made the decision to move to The Courtyards at Harvest Ridge. We moved in February 2025 and already feel right at home. The Epcon process was very thorough and offered many options to customize our home. We have enjoyed many group gatherings organized by the Harvest Ridge residents. There is a real sense of community here. The sales process was made easy by our New Home Specialist, Megan. We are excited to enjoy our retirement years in our Epcon home.

I'd been looking at downsizing for a couple of years, but hadn't been able to convince my husband it was time to move. In February 2025, he decided it was getting hard to get up and down the stairs in our multi-level home. We went to Harvest Ridge first and viewed a former model that was on the market. After walking through the home my husband was ready to buy this already finished home! I suggested looking at the Epcon communities in Johnston and Waukee, too, before making our decision. Andy was so patient as we mulled over pros and cons of each location. We finally chose Harvest Ridge because we already shopped and dined in Ankeny often, it was close to the interstate and our daughter in Ames, and right now, because we are on the north east end of town, we have farms on two sides of the
