The Apartments at Grand Central Market

This has been a great place to live. Central to the city and easy to access. Pros: Since the market is downstairs, they pressure wash the sidewalk and keep it pretty clean unlike other areas downtown. Iconic LA events happen (filming, LA Marathon, Grand Park events, etc) so if you want a DTLA experience, this is for you. Very affordable and good for commuters. Cons: Washers are a hit or miss and pricey. Street parking is not safe and your car will get broken into but the garage is safe. Noise at night can be bad but the higher you are the better. Been here 3 years almost and I can say its getting worse as far as things to do/walk to due to all the business closing down. Parking is nightmare on Sundays from 12 to 3pm. I've lived here for a year and have compiled 4 great reasons to move in! 1. If you DON'T value your confidentiality, then this is the place for you. After a year of ongoing issues with my unhinged neighbor blasting music at all hours of the day, I've learned that he's a vet living here on VA housing, reports to a case worker, was arrested over the holidays (the quietest month I've had since living here!), exposed himself to the building security guards, and defers his issues with management to his mommy and daddy. All of these details were casually offered up by Emily from management, who let me know to keep it hush-hush since she wasn't supposed to divulge this information. 2. Tulia and her management team didn’t accept my application because they didn’t want to go through the section 8 process. This was a violation of my rights. I wasted about two months with the management team all because they were unfamiliar and rushing the process HACLA has set up for the clients they are assisting. I could have filed a case but I was pregnant and homeless at the time of applying and could not take the stress. These apartments are so beautiful but Tulia is rude (will talk loudly over you), condescending (quick to give a bad attitude if she disagrees), and has a point to prove for some reason ( it’s giving black woman power trip). I’m sure if you have a perfect and more familiar financial situation then you’d have no issues with them. Just thought I would share my experience

I just called the apartment and first of all somebody answered which is rare the lady on the phone was very efficient about getting me all the information I needed I had to ask no questions at all the place seems well managed and accommodating too bad it was way over my budget.... :(
