Square Management

I called to ask some questions about a property he listed. He has some requirements that I’ve never encountered with other landlords so I wanted a clear understanding before I paid the $35 fee to just see the house. I’m pretty sure that fee doesn’t go towards anything, and if you don’t like the house your out the $35. I would barely finish my sentence and he kept interrupting me. And then when I would ask questions for clarification (didn’t even get a chance to explain to him that I’ve never experienced these types of requirements) he started talking down to me. I’ve heard rumors from friends and people around the neighborhood to avoid square management and now I understand why.

I rented from Square Management on South Highland Ave. for about 10 months. The efficiency apartment was clean, convenient, and economic. Mark and Stacy are wonderful people who were a pleasure to rent from. They took care of all of my needs before, during, and after the rental period. My deposits were returned in a timely fashion. I would not hesitate to rent from them in the future.

I have been a renter from Square Management for the last ten years, having lived in two different apartments in the same building. I've never had a problem that was not addressed promptly and completely by the management. My apartment is fantastic. Sure, it's old - the building is from the twenties. But I moved to Highland Square because of its neighborhood and architectural character. Neighborhood character in this case means the vibrancy that comes with a densely populated and youthful area, while architectural character means a brick building, hardwood floors, and plaster and lathe walls. Highland Square is both "right now" and "back then", and Square Management has plenty of places right in the center of the Square. The living definition of Napoleon Complex. The unit we wanted to rent was never cleaned before moving in. The guest room smells like a cat sprayed in there, which was never taken care of. We've had a leaky ceiling since moving in 4 years ago despite "repairs". The driveway might've been plowed once in 4 years. We've had a squirrel living in the ceiling for 3 years despite "repairs". He has used profanity towards my wife and is extremely disrespectful whenever questioned for why he operates so lazily. After renting two apartments through Sqaure Management I can honestly attest to the high level of service and professionalism provided by Marc and his staff. It infuriates me to read several of these comments because I know they simply aren't true. Marc and his team are always quick to respond to any issues that arise and they are more than happy to help in any way they can. It's quite simple really; if pay your rent on time and you're a responsible, respectful tenant your experience with Square Management will be VERY positive. For all potential tenants who aren't able to abide by these basic principles: look elsewhere.
