Southern Winds

In 2024 my fiance and I were looking for an apartment, coincidentally around the same time as some of our friends. We found southern winds and on the website they advertised a “referral program” that would see that if you referred someone you got 100 dollars off a month of rent. We referred our friends after signing our lease and let the office know that we referred two others. Come move in day we sat in the office and communicated AGAIN about the referral bonus and was told that our friends had already been in to grab their key and reminded them as well and that we would get 100 off our first months rent. After the first month I got ahold of the office and was told that because of the billing cycle I’d have to wait till next month. So I did. Then reached out at the beginning of the month

I have lived at Southern Winds for almost 3 years now and have had a wonderful experience. The apartments are fairly new, spacious, and nice, but the best part of living here is the very friendly and responsive staff. Every maintenance issues I've had as been resolved very quickly. My favorite features about the apartments are the in unit washer and dryer, open kitchen/living room design, and the walk in closet. The complex itself is well maintained and kept clean. The pool and exercise room are nice perks. There is ample parking and the neighborhood is pretty quiet. The location isn't bad if you have a car, but there is nothing within walking distance. My boyfriend and I rented a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment for a year here before finding a house. We really loved it. It's a quiet, clean neighborhood. The staff was nothing but friendly and helpful the entire time. We had a dryer issue, and it was fixed in about 2 hours... talk about fast!!!! Lovely pool and clubhouse/fitness area. Pet friendly and quite spacious! If we didn't find a house, I could have seen us spending more time there! Highly recommend to anyone who wants an apartment!

I have so much to say about Southern winds, but I will limit myself to this. They don’t protect residents or their legal rights, have an on-site Tippecanoe County officer who doesn’t do anything for the residents except live there for free and pretend he’s there for a reason, and they had a troll leasing agent named Tiffany who vandalized my car. Cons - Poor gym, stingy move out charges, and bad water. The treadmills in the gym would turn off randomly and were very loud and clunky. The gym doesn't have a bathroom or water fountain. I got charged hundreds of dollars for "painting and carpet cleaning charges." I vacuumed before I moved out and didn't have any stains. Should not be worth a $100 carpet cleaning charge. I had a few small nail/anchor holes from bookshelves that I filled with plaster but didn't bother painting since they weren't very large. Should not be worth a $300 painting charge. The water was very hard and would leave deposits in our sink, shower heads, and dishwasher. Also, no recycling. Pros - The apartment was a fairly decent price given the quality and location.
