Riverstone Apartments

I would strongly advise anyone considering moving to Riverstone Apartment Complex to think twice. A few months after moving in, I started becoming incredibly ill and spent thousands of dollars in medical bills trying to figure out what was wrong. After extensive testing with lack of answers, I discovered mold in my apartment. I notified the office immediately as well as HSL properties, and that was 2 weeks ago and I still have not gotten ANY information from them on next steps. I am STILL PAYING RENT AND NOT STAYING THERE. My physician has since told me that my bloodwork does correlate with mycotoxin exposure, and the cause is most likely the mold. So helpful and kind. Briana Sherry and Tammy have all been so helpful with our move. We had an issue with our dishwasher when we moved in and the complex was quick to send someone out and replace it! The maintenance team did an amazing job!

For the most part, this is a great community to live, as it is peaceful and I love having access to the Loop. However, water gets shut off frequently. Also, there are cockroaches in the apartment. Pest control comes, but nothing really gets done. I’ve asked them for more sticky pads and they say “ran out, will come back with more” and they never do. I ended up just buying my own.

I just moved out of these apartments after 4 years, and I can say the overall experience was very positive! I moved in during COVID in 2021 when the rental we were in was sold, and into an apartment I applied for online sight unseen, so I was super stressed out and a bit nervous at the time. I had two cats and a dog so I felt really lucky finding a place that allows 3 pets! From day one the staff were friendly and helpful, and the apartment complex was quiet and clean and always felt safe. I am a single parent and so feeling safe is always really important. I think the upkeep of the complex, constantly seeing staff around taking care of things, and having the few maintenance requests I had over the years responded to very promptly all contributed to that feeling of security for me. If you want to deal with surprise fees, lack of communication, and rude customer service, this is the place for you!! When I moved in my unit reeked of cigarette smell. It was so bad my clothes absorbed the smell, so I smelled like it. It took management over a month to address this issue. (For the record, maintenance staff themselves were always respectful and timely with other requests.) Later, management scheduled a move out inspection almost a month before I was supposed to move out without giving me my required 48 hour notice. Maintenance had let themself into the unit. (I was in the unit but did not hear the knock just heard the door open and came out to see what was going on.)
