Reside on Barry

I applied to this unit and another one in the same neighborhood. It’s a competitive rental market, and I wanted to make sure that if one got rented before the other, I wouldn’t have to start my process over. I was approved for both, so I canceled one. They made up some fake policy saying I couldn’t get my administration fee back, basically stealing $400 from me. My bank already refunded the money because that policy doesn’t exist. Still, how shady. If this is how they treat applicants, I can only imagine how they treat their residents.

Building is new and super modern. Maintenance staff (Julio and Willie) are amazing and always fixes things the day of. They are so friendly! Great communication with them and management usually has quick replies too. The outdoor patio is nice in the summer for laying out and hanging out. The gym has all the basics and the laundry room is well maintained. Parking garage is attached. I’ve lived here for 2 years and never had any issues.

I applied to this building and was accepted. I paid a $50 application fee and a $400 administrative fee. The application clearly stated that the application fee was nonrefundable, but it said nothing about the administrative fee. After I cancelled my application, the management claimed there was a 24-hour no-refund policy and refused to return my $400. I never signed a lease. To verify, I went through the application process again without submitting it, and there was no mention anywhere that the administrative fee would be nonrefundable. Now they will not answer my calls. They also said they would email me the policy, but I never received it.

Julio and the location of the building are the absolute best parts of the complex. Julio and Willy are extremely helpful and quick when you submit a maintenance request. They even helped me move out by giving me boxes to use! You absolutely can NOT beat the location. Footsteps from Broadway and a super easy 5 minute walk to the lake. Mariano's is also walking distance which is amazing and Trader Joe's isn't too far either! During my stay, there were a lot of 9am-3pm water shut offs which honestly were pretty annoying as I work from home most days, but I understand it's an older building in process of renovations so it's completely necessary for them to do those. Julio and Willie are the best! They were very quick to respond to my maintenance needs. They greatly helped me upon move-in with great enthusiasm and kindness. They are an essential part of the great team at Reside on Barry.
