I had a very disappointing experience at Reserves at Tidewater in Norfolk, VA. Although the leasing agent, Thalia Chambers, was polite, the overall process lacked professionalism, transparency, and proper apartment preparation. After my application was approved, I was given keys to view the unit for the first time, only to find it extremely dirty, in poor condition, and with roaches present. I was assured it would be cleaned and ready before move-in, but on move-in day — after paying nearly $2,000 — the apartment was in the same unacceptable condition. I was later offered another unit, which initially looked fine, but just before moving, I discovered the central AC was broken and replaced with a window unit, which had never been disclosed. I was told repairs would happen later that month.
I don’t usually write reviews, but if this can save someone from having a bad experience, I feel it’s important to share mine. My first and main complaint is about the leasing office staff. Once you sign the lease, their attitude completely changes. They become rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. Any issue you have with your unit is ignored. They give you dates and promises that are never honored, and trying to get anything resolved is a total waste of time. Once you rent an apartment here, you are truly on your own. The common areas are not cleaned or properly maintained, insects constantly get into the apartments, and my unit had a leak that lasted for several days and was never repaired. On top of that, they charge an excessive amount of unnecessary and unfair fees. The situatio
Save yourself the stress and do not rent here. The only nice things I have to say about this place is Talia in the front office is very nice and this apartment complex allows dogs with no breed restrictions When I first applied here I applied for a first floor unit. I paid a fee for that apartment to be held. And they STILL put me on the 3RD FLOOR. But that was the least of my worries here to be honest… My air conditioning broke in the beginning of June and they did not fix my AC until a week before I moved out at the end of August. I spent the entire summer with NO AC. my thermostat reached as high as 99 degrees. Simply because it can’t display 3 digits but I’m sure it was hotter. I got the city involved and they received a code violation. I had to pay my rent to escrow at the courthou
One day, an employee literally said this place was crooked. That stuck with me. I think the only person in this apartment complex who treated me like a human being was Talia — I believe that was her name. The day I moved out, I literally drove to the rental office smiling. I hate how I was treated. Words can’t express how much this place would thrive with honest and kind staff. I’ve overheard staff sitting in the office talking negatively about tenants numerous times. At one point, a staff member even warned me about certain issues, which made me uncomfortable. This isn’t just about not liking the place. This place does not feel like it genuinely cares about residents. I would avoid the rental office at all costs sometimes. I had ongoing AC issues during my time there, which was frustr
I’d rather live under an overpass than stay another month here, and thats hardly an exaggeration. First 3 months? Calm, seemed decent and livable. 4th?(beginning of May) everything began to fall apart, and it started with the A/C unit cutting out. The unit became unlivable due to temperatures reaching 118 inside. Reported it immediately, and The best that the Leasing office could do for me was add us to a wait list to have our AC fixed, they would not allow us to have an outsource company repair it unless they approved of it, which takes awhile. So in response due to severe climates, I then threatened to withhold rent because the unit was now too hot to even stay inside of, cause why pay them any rent for a place I cannot physically live in. As petty as they are, we were harassed by the le
