Eric and Chris did an outstanding job on our home. They are a truly custom builder--we brought them a design and they were able to turn it into reality. I'm posting this review after a few years of enjoying our home and I'm now even more able to appreciate how exceptional their work was. We've watched other new homes built in the area and many had issues, sat idle for months at a time, and ultimately took years to finish. Our build went flawlessly, with no issues, delays, or cost overruns and we got a beautiful, well-built home. Highly recommend over any of the other builders we looked at in the DMV.

Reel Homes purchased Nextdoor neighbors lot and has been a terrible neighbor since. They sent an intimidation letter to me when I did not agree to allow them to cut down a tree on the property line that had been there for many decades without issue. They then had other trees cut down by two property lines that were not near the actual building area. Their people also knocked down a tree that caused damage to two neighboring properties including one persons home. Their construction crew repeatedly have parked obstructing people from getting to and from their homes. They had the road ripped up to do work in the culdesac and haven't repaired the road properly. Reel homes, from my perspective, has repeatedly shown they want to have their cake and eat it too. While I do not doubt their homes are high quality and aesthetically pleasing, every other Vienna builder is community-oriented and understands that the "real" value of Vienna lies not just in monetary property values but in the people who have make Vienna their home. Being neighborly and socially responsible is an essential component of doing business in Vienna. It's one thing to build a high-quality home and quite another to take advantage of low-income, disabled long-term residents. In my opinion, Reel Homes is an opportunistic bully and I would caution any agents working with them or landowners considering selling a lot to them. After researching larger builders with their cookie cutter approaches and other smaller custom builders, Reel Homes was chosen because of their flexibility, value, straightforward approach, and in-person review of some of their other completed projects. We are very happy to have contracted with Reel Homes to build our new home. This was our first experience with new home construction and their "lump sum" pricing approach was right for us. We completed the initial contract while we were overseas, and there were no unwelcome surprises down the road. We appreciated that Reel Homes only took on a limited number of projects at any given time, allowing us to deal directly with Eric and Chris whenever we had a request or question. We asked for several modifications of the plan we chose and these were made without any complication.
