I tried renting a home from an agent who works at Realty Pros. As a potential tenant to a property they represent, the process was far from seamless or easy. Before even having an application handed to me, I was told I could rent the place I was looking at if I paid a year upfront and paid double security deposit, all because I mentioned I was self employed and run a business of my own. This is clearly an act of discrimination toward a self employed person. What’s the point of a lease and monthly rent if I’m being asked to pay a whole year upfront?
