The are tearing up the contaminated soil here and i can smell it and feel it. The air which was once fresh lake air smells like iron and steel, my skin feels itchy when i stand downwind. I got a headache from being in the park i loved so much for only 5 minutes. I would recommend that no one goes to steelworkers for the foreseeable future, they are going to have to re-topsoil that entire area because of their refusal to remediate before construction. Anyone who is pro-quantum doesn't understand the medical, economic, and socio-political implications of this project. Here are some facts about this facility : 1. This isn't just a quantum facility, it will double as an AI data center, and we know the harm those cause to our communities, environment, and power grid. 2. they say its a carbon n
Gentrification in action. They can't wait to raise our rents and property taxes. They have been dying to get their hands on this bit of lakefront property for years and this is their vessel of displacement. They act like it will bring jobs and benefits for the community, but everyone that has lived here for years will be forced out long before they can be helped by this development at all.
People, companies, politicians, all treat Black communities like pieces on a chess board. For PsiQuantum to force this on a community proves the lack of respect and the outright refusal to sign the community agreement further proves intentions are not pure. No one is interested in Black communities, until they find something they can take. The jobs that will be offered are highly specialized, the adverse impact is going to be extreme. Also the fact they have named it Quantam Shore Chicago instead of Quantam South Shore Chicago is further proof of them removing the community from the equation. Praying for all those that will be impacted.
Forced on the Southside with no input from residents. We would rather have direct investment in the community. This quantum computing campus will increase electricity bills, use massive amounts of fresh water, increase property taxes and speed up gentrification. This facility will give few, if any, long term jobs to residents of the area. The construction of this campus will release pollutants into the air that are left in the soil from the steel mill. The people who live here were not consulted on any part of this process.
Don't listen to the nimbys. This is the chance to help the south side and the whole of Chicago.
