Pelham Place Apartments

I had a very mixed experience with Pelham Place. The best part about living at this apartment complex was the community of residents residing there. We had outdoor events together, we helped each other out, and we shared a community garden. It was an uphill battle trying to hold onto these treasures as the apartment complex changed owners. This apartment complex is in a perfect area for walking to local events and shops. The surrounding neighborhood is incredibly gorgeous. Unfortunately, this is contrasted by some of the issues with the apartment itself. My roof leaked for months and I had to constantly rearrange furniture when it rained so the floor could be covered in buckets. Used to be a nice community before this new company moved in. I thought landlords giddily kicking out single mothers was a joke prior to this. Does Norfolk really need another overpriced "luxury" apartment made from a painted over roach motel?

I am just getting around to this review, but I lived here for about 2 years and had a very pleasant and comfortable experience. I never lost any packages, maintenance requests were responded to quickly, and the interior of my apartment was up-to-date with cute features. I never felt unsafe and had a lot of privacy. Had some issues with the radiator heat throughout the complex last winter but I was able to be released from my lease early for the inconvenience. Overall, very nice starter apartment within a reasonable price range.

09/11/23. So I lived here in 1997-9. It was an interesting experience. I had a studio on the bottom floor. I provided carpet to them which the installed for free, they were going to replace it anyway. The only time I had the radiator heater, first time it comes on it's an experience. Had a guy come in through my bathroom window during the day, he came from the church next door that feed homeless. Not sure if that is still a thing. The washer and dryers were an issue, on site. I found it better to go to a laundry mat. The places upstairs were really cool looking. Oh and I paid 390 a month at that time. It was a fun experience, you got to watch out for flooding on the side streets though.

My disabled daughter lived here Until April 2023. For the entire month of February in 2023 this apartment complex had no heat. While I understand that they have an ancient building, they waited until the very last day of February to inform people that the heat was not fixed. So nobody had the opportunity to put their March rent in escrow. They clearly did not want section 8 renters and one of the administrators at covenant properties actually called me to tell me that my daughter’s housing voucher was going to be revoked Because she had signed the paperwork, even though I was her legal guardian. I was furious. And she was wrong. There were many issues with the actual apartment, and I regret that I ever moved my daughter into this place. The roaches were unbearable to the point where we
