One West Jackson

Was super excited to move into my apartment at One West Jackson, however, I noticed small brown roaches (9 roaches in the first 48 hours) upon move in. I found the experience especially frustrating because I specifically asked during the tour if the unit (this was a ground floor studio) ever received complaints or reports about roaches and was told "no", by the leasing agent. Though my interactions with the team at Monroe Properties (they manage this property) were largely positive, this situation was very stressful, expensive (added $350 to my overall moving costs), and required me to follow up several times with the management team (call, text, email) until I received a resolution.

I would not recommend living here based on my experience. When I moved out, I was charged for “cleaning” and “repainting” even though I left the apartment in the same condition it was given to me in ! Place was dirty, with dead roaches inside when I first moved in. They claimed the appliances needed cleaning, but they were already clean when I left. I only received about $200 back from my $1,175 deposit, which feels unfair and like payback because I once asked them to reschedule a tour because I was out of town !! Who wants strangers coming to your apartment to tour when you’re not there ??!!! Speaking of tours, they scheduled constant tours !!! I mean EVERY SINGLE DAY throughout my last month here, so clearly the apartment wasn’t considered that dirty if they were showing it off almost ev

Decent sized, pet friendly apartments in a secured building with private parking. The apartments have their own w/d & dishwasher, and water/trash/internet are included in the rent. Maintenance issues are fixed quickly. I haven't noticed any pests and they do bug treatment here. People do regularly rummage in the trash here (and at every other building in the neighborhood, including businesses and single family homes), but management does their best to shovel it back into the dumpster. They also have somebody cleaning the common areas inside. If you get a package, the delivery person may leave it outside, since they typically don't have access and the call box is not kept up to date.

Apartments are cute and a decent size for the rent, balconies are nice. Pet friendly. There’s always garbage scattered around the dumpster from people dumpster diving, which is always super gross and annoying when I have to tiptoe around everyones garbage just to throw something in the dumpster. A lot of dog owners in the building don’t clean up after their dogs. Also some neighbors will leave their garbage in the hallway for days at a time.

It would be a decent place to live if it weren’t for the roach infestation
