North Carolina Real Estate Commission

Possible violation of NC Chapter 132. I called with a simple question to find out which state agency regulates multifamily dwellings in the state of North Carolina. Every state has an agency that does that. I have lived in several states. Each state has a very clear chain of command when it comes to that regulatory authority. When I call a state agency and ask for specific information, and to speak to somebody to get a simple question answered, I am never road blocked by having to provide my name and phone number and have somebody call back to me.

Absolutely horrible experience calling them today. I didn't get the name of the woman I spoke with about my prelicensing questions but she was incredibly rude and unprofessional from beginning to end, spoke to me as if I had no dignity, and seemed like I was a bother and a burden to have even called with my very legitimate question. Not sure who decided to have her client-facing but they need to rethink that decision immediately. As a brand new prospective provisional broker, it was a disheartening way to be welcomed into the industry and a horrible first impression of the Commission.

Momentarily take in the ample parking and beautiful brick building, but take heed of the helpful and informative "No Trespassing" sign. This is an official NC Governmental Building based on the entrance adorned by an official bronze metal plaque. Fear not, expeditiously exit the parking lot and back track a few blocks until you see the modest and dated architecture of the charming three story stucco-esque and dark- brick building emblazoned with a 1001 in Super Big White Font nestled above the main entrance door. When people want to look up the rating of an agent even Google tells you to check Zillow, Realtor.com etal where there you will only see 5 star rating or no rating at all, these websites will not post negative reviews. This is true even if their license has been suspended which will only show up if you just Google the agents name and said info will show up as a NCREC Bulletin in a substack on the Internet. Now in my case my wife a 74 year old woman was shown a house that was listed by Matt Sarver of Sarver Group, her agent Zapata Tate of ERA Live Moore described the property as having been on the market for only four days and both agents negotiated a credit of $3500 for repairs. After investigating my complaint for 5 months, in which I have recorded phone conversations that directly prove my complaints as valid, they ruled that the evidence was not enough for disciplinary action against the agent/broker I complained against. Then, follow-up emails went without response. Skip this step and just file a lawsuit if your allegations are severe enough. This agency isn't in the business of representing the consumer.
