For three glorious years, I resided in the penthouse suite (aka the apartment right above) of what can only be described as America’s Most Dramatically Noisy Elderly Couple – true apartment lifers who apparently signed a secret pact with the building in 1978 that exempts them from basic human courtesy. Their living room was equipped with a surround-sound system engineered by NASA to simulate earthquake conditions. Every single night, without fail, they tuned into their sacred “adventure show” (think explosions, gunfire, and heroic one-liners) at a volume generous enough to vibrate our floorboards like we were living inside a subwoofer. I have serious safety concerns regarding the navigation of this property: ​1. The unit numbering scheme is non-standard and confusing. ​2. The building placards are inadequate. While there is a placard on each building showing the unit range, it is posted in an obscure spot that is typically not easily visible from the road. Furthermore, this placard provides no direction for which floor and which side of the building specific apartments are located on. ​3. The individual unit numbers are poorly placed. The numbers on the units themselves face inwards, making it difficult to identify a specific unit without getting up close. ​4. Mission Hills Apartments: A Place to Call Home for a Decade My wife and I have had the pleasure of calling Mission Hills Apartments home for the past ten years. The location is favorable, offering easy access to everything we need. While the leasing staff and management has changed a few times over the years, the staff has always been prompt and courteous. Whenever we’ve needed maintenance assistance, they’ve been there to address the issue quickly. The layout of our apartment is spacious and functional, making it a comfortable place to live. Over the years, we’ve met a variety of friendly neighbors. The manager and staff posted a little free library for everyone. To be exact, it used to be 4 stars, but now it is less than 1. I found this apartment in 2017 and decided right away because of the location and the Japanese staff at the time (she was later promoted to manager but was soon fired by the current management, I don't know what the reason was) to be very pleasant, so I decided immediately and have lived there ever since. I continue to like the location very much, but I am very displeased with the current management. I have been very displeased with the current management because when I complained about the frequent and frightening noise complaints from my neighbors over the years, they would only ask me to record them because they needed proof. I absolutely love living here. The landscaping is always tidy. The staff are super friendly and they are on top of any issues that needs attention. I highly recommend living here because it’s peaceful and cozy.
