Merriewold at Highland Park

Steer clear!!! After living here for 3 months our bathroom developed a leak in the ceiling. After our first ticket was submitted the response was “this is condensation from AC or shower” and ticket was closed. The leak worsened and turned into a huge black mold issue (see photos) After a year worth of tickets being opened and closed, and a full pregnancy (which property was made aware of on numerous occasions) the black mold issue was NEVER resolved before we ultimately decided for our family and newborn that it was uninhabitable and we were forced to move when I was 2 weeks postpartum because the property refused to allow us to move into a different unit for the same fee because it was 100 sq ft larger and they wanted to charge $500 extra a month for that space. We have been living here for 3 years now. Starting our fourth year soon. Overall the experience was good and decent. The location is the best in my opinion. Maintenance team always responds quickly with our tickets and issues. Gerry is our point of contact now since he is really responsible and responds quickly with care and solution. Communicating with him definitely makes things smoother. All in all, we love living here. It’s our home and place of safety. Looking forward to the fourth year!

So I noticed most of these reviews are from people who have never actually lived here but just had a bad experience with the leasing office. Here's my review of the apartment after having lived here for over a year. My partner and I live with our cat in a 1 bed 1 bath, and we are both very happy and feel extremely lucky to be able to live here. There are definitely things the apartment could improve on, but for the most part, this is a great place to live. First, the obvious is that this place is beautiful. The administration building literally looks like a castle, and the place looks extra beautiful when it snows. The apartment also comes with pretty great amenities. It has been extremely stressful to communicate with the leasing office as they have been really inefficient with responding emails. My emails always either get ignored or it would take days for them to respond. I have already said in my emails that phone calls would not work and “ It would be better if we contact by email,” however, the leasing office just straight up ignored my email and kept on calling. If it is this difficult to communicate with them before moving in, I cannot imagine what would be like after I moved in. I feel really disrespected. Keep it up if you wanna lose more customers.

I’ve been living here for 7 years and couldn’t be happier! It’s a great, respectful, and friendly community with amazing amenities like a gym and a pool. I truly enjoy living here and plan to stay for many more years
