Apartments are under-heated, poorly insulated and under maintained. Expect an electricity bill 2x-4x for a similar sized apartment. Landlord also likes to play dirty. Someone else put it best, slum NYC landlord. Make sure to check 311 complaints for the building. They have a bunch and do nothing about them. On street easy they like list their apartments as different units so you can't look at the rent history. They have a high turnover rate. You'll likely be one of those to move out soon. I was a tenant there for 2 years. During those 2 years there was a persistent leak in the apartment that was continuously ruining the walls and causing black mold to grow. We asked them to fix it and all they ever did was demand the rent after painting over the wall. The apartment in question is currently on the market for 1745. The building is 1409 71st Street Apt D1 - be weary of renting this unit, as their previous “attempts” to address the issue yielded no positive results. We had to vacate.
