I am a Marine Veteran with a service dog. I have been renting with Hunter Properties for over 11 YEARS now. All the ladies in the management office are wonderful and I now consider them like family. Any bad reviews of them are sprung from ignorance and lack of humility. Everyone of my neighbors that also rent with/through Hunter Properties feel the same way and also love renting through Hunter. They have reasonable prices on property that would cost you double with another management team in the SD area. They also try to keep everything very personable with their tenants. No crazy hidden up charges, no outrageous requests, or faceless demands that you may receive from working/renting with another property management company in the same area. I’d like to start this review by mentioning that I have NEVER had a single negative experience with any landlord, property manager, or rental company before. I have never been late on rent, and I always leave the rental in a better and cleaner state than I find them. Hunter Properties ruined this streak with a greedy and unlawful withholding of my (and my girlfriend’s) security deposit. Of the $2500 we are owed, they initially withheld NINE-HUNDRED AND THREE DOLLARS, citing things like dusty ceiling fans and professionally removing coax cables (whose installation predated our move-in). We have rented our house through Hunter Properties for many years and couldn't be happier. They have always worked hard to keep our house occupied and they do a very good job of screening tenants. Kelly and Bruce and their team are always available and they take care of repairs in a timely manner. They are responsive to both the tenants and the homeowners. We especially appreciate the way they prepare monthly statements and make monthly deposits on time. We highly recommend them!
