HRP Group

HRP worked with community organizations to secure the contract behind the largest redevelopment of public land in Philadelphia's history. But as soon as they were awarded the contract (note - they did not offer the cheapest proposal!), HRP *immediately* walked back their promises, intentions, and collaboration for true environmental cleanup of the former refinery site. They have directly and indirectly stifled clear and consistent environmental justice considerations coming from the community. And to date they still have not responded to the questions they themselves promised to answer at the only community meeting they have joined many, many months ago. 0/10 do not recommend

HRP has not kept its promise to be a good neighbor to Philly communities. Their "community engagement" is hollow. They've ignored concerns about traffic jams, diesel truck pollution, and flooding. The small amount (only $10 million over 10 years) they've committed to invest in neighborhoods next to the Bellwether District, after residents suffered from toxic pollution and disinvestment for decades, is insulting. We should have had a transparent planning process and a real Community Benefits Agreement. But HRP puts profits over people. Absolutely shameful.

The people of Philadelphia don't support HRP -- residents here have serious concerns about how their plans will cause a traffic nightmare, flood our neighborhoods, and keep giving people asthma and cancer. Any possible tenants should also be concerned about all these issues. The planning disaster that HRP and the city of Philadelphia has on their hands is a bad deal for everyone – except maybe HRP who could sell and be out of Philly as quickly as they came leaving all the issues to tenants, residents, and the City. This is not the kind of development Philadelphia needs!

Ignores & gaslights residents about their concerns, it’s unclear whether the plans will cause massive traffic issues for the area, not to mention the toxic chemicals in the soil that have not been cleaned up that will make residents and workers sick. No real investment made to support the long-term environmental justice community to not be priced out of the area. Don’t do business here until this development has gone through due diligence!!
