Hollybrook Apartments

Scheduled an apartment tour, confirmed the apartment tour twice, then informed me day of (an hour before, actually) that the unit I was scheduled to tour was not available and tried to upsell me larger for $200/mo more than my intended price point. Not to mention after driving by the building, it looks worn down for the price. Don’t recommend wasting your time

NO WATER. NOOO WATERRRRR. Do I even need to say more? I've been renting at various places for almost 13 years now, never lived in any place where the landlord/maintenance had to come in more than once or twice a year... but here. Good lord. Every week they put out at least two text notices to everyone that they will be shutting water off for a few days for "repairs." Then the next week they're shutting water off because of "a leak." Then the next week they need to shut off water because someone's AC is leaking and they need to figure out which. Then the next week there's an "increase in water usage" so they need to deep-examine everyone's apartment to see who's daring to use their water. Then the next week they're shutting the water off AGAIN for MORE "repairs." It's been like this for MON

These apartments are affordable and in a great location, but the buildings are old and appear to have many water/sewage problems. My partner and I experienced three separate water leaks while we were here. Two were caused by our upstairs neighbors leaving their sink running, which lead to water flooding from our ceiling. The third leak was a sewage backup. Some of our belongings ended up unsalvageable. We would receive frequent texts from management about them shutting off the water in different buildings to do repairs. It sounded like all of the buildings had issues. Also, our unit constantly smelled of cigarette smoke despite the smoke-free addendum. Maintenance was very quick and responsive though to any issues we had. I do not recommend Hollybrook. A week after we had moved in there were cockroaches in our unit (building 3). Don (the old property manager) was very fast at fixing my issue. However I was told by an employee that it was due to my neighbor who is absolutely disgusting and you cannot step foot in his unit due to the mess/smell. Nothing was done about my gross neighbor. The new maintenance man is rude and unprofessional and gaslit me when my A/C wouldn’t work. I had to complain multiple times to get a HVAC technician to come out and properly fix it. turns out it was a low Freon issue and nothing wrong in my part as a tenant. Apartment was decent management however was not I literally signed paperwork stating I do not wish to renew my lease and somehow ended up on the lease my roommate renewed. Come to find out 2 years later I had an eviction on my record that I had no idea about
