I bought property from one of their agents two years ago. Nowhere in the many emails we exchanged did the agent mention a crucial fact about Hawaii property taxes: that I had to file an application for homestead exemption *in person* at the county office after buying the house. (In many states this is automatically included in the many forms filled out at the closing.) I only discovered a week ago that because I didn't do this, my property taxes went up over $3000. Local agents should be aware of this fact and convey such information to new residents; their failure to do so has become hideously expensive for me, and overwhelms any other value their services may have provided.

For me, the Hilo Bay Realty team is an absolutely STELLAR group, and a dream to work with! I've rented a lot of houses over the years, in many different US states (as well as in Mexico), and working with HBR and Dusty Hinston, from start to finish, couldn't have been easier, more stress-free, or a greater pleasure! Dusty was courteous, patient, knowledgeable, on the ball, and quick to respond to calls, answer my questions, or address my concerns, I couldn't have asked for more from any real-estate agent/ landlord. I would definitely recommend this agency, and consider doing business with HBR again in the future.

Keystone cops of the real estate industry. So many mistakes made by the realtor.. Rachel or Rachelle... Pick one name and stick with it for Pete's sake. Affiliated companies (title company etc) equally inept. Worst of all, took no responsibility for their shortcomings and refused to return my $3k in escrow. Will be seeking restitution via legal channels. My advice: run away...run far away from this company.
