Great American Title Agency - Scottsdale

Lazy, uncommunicative and irresponsible are all words that I would use to describe this title agency and particularly Debby Kieffer. Our escrow closed on 9/12/25, with a modest refund due to us at closing. On 9/30, I called the title company to inform them that we did not receive our closing package nor check. Debby informed me it was mailed and accused me of providing a bad address. She agreed to place a stop payment and remail the package. Two days later, we received a package from Great American post dated on 9/30. The check was deposited. It was returned stop payment with a $25 charge. Great American Title is a fantastic local title and escrow agency here in the Valley. Working with Braydon Dennis and Marlene Ruggeri has been such a great experience—smooth, efficient, and always professional. They communicate clearly, stay on top of every detail, and make each transaction feel easy. Highly recommend their team if you're looking for a reliable and experienced title company in Arizona!

2 main issues: 1. They caused a major headache only allowing their list of approved notaries for us to sign paperwork and charged $200 for it. They cited AZ state law required it, but after contacting other AZ title agencies confirmed this was not true and solely their internal policy. 2. In the weeks leading up to our close we changed the close date to help the transaction run smoother for all parties. They missed this change (though it was on the final signed purchase agreement) which caused issues on close date and them miscalculating prorated interest which led to us having to send 2 different wires while we were on the road traveling to our new home state. Bottom line is they lack attention to detail and I wouldn’t use them again.
