Very unprofessional experience. I was hoping the reviews just didn't have good ones because sometimes people don't write about good experiences but unfortunately this is a company to steer clear of. I contacted a man named Joey (possibly Joel, it was one name on Craigslist and another on Streeteasy but the phone number was the same) for a showing. He gave me different days of his availability so I took the soonest possible because I know rentals go fast. I confirmed with him the time and place to view the showing, even alerted him that I'd be 10 minutes late, and then I waited for quite a while for him to never show up. I finally called him and he gave me a code to get into the building alone. He directed me, quite rudely, repeating over and over the apt number and spoke over me. I was
The reviews here are not exaggerations — if anything, they understate how bad the experience truly is. I genuinely wish I had read them beforehand. I was not met at the property as expected and instead was spoken to rudely by Joel Schwartz, who showed absolutely no professionalism or basic courtesy. He told me to call him after viewing the unit. That alone was a red flag. Despite this, I still liked the apartment and the price, so I followed up. He then requested a credit check fee of $50 per applicant — $100 total — via Zelle. I later learned that legally, no more than $20 per applicant can be charged. After realizing this, I decided not to move forward and requested an itemized receipt and a refund. Since then, I’ve been given the runaround: excuses about Zelle issues, the office bein
Complete disregard for tenants’ living conditions. On top of many other issues, we’ve had a hole in our ceiling for a year that they will plaster over until it eventually leaks again, took 9 months of complaining to fix the leak and now will not check for mold, which is visible. Our fridge has been broken off and on for the past three months which they have disregarded for as long as possible, only ever showing up after we’ve had to throw all our food away. This time we’ve been trying to get it fixed for almost five days and have gotten no real answer about when it will get fixed. They did not fix it before closing for a holiday, despite days of us contacting both the office and repair man.
Horrible experience would give 0 if I could. If you need repairs expect to wait a month plus. In two separate experiences, we waited over a month for critical repairs. Extremely unresponsive. A hole in my ceiling that left my apartment below 30 degrees had us running our light bill over 500 dollars for heat, in the second instance, we needed lock repair after being locked out on Feb the 24th. We contacted a locksmith because we didn't feel like waiting outside of our door for a month, the lock needs repairs and has been broken for over a month. The company repeatedly mentioned that they would call back. Never did, left us hanging multiple times. The lock is still broken while posting this. EDIT: Shortly before our sublet was over, they refused to make repairs, and they served us multipl
This management company borderline ruined my life. We rented from their 171 Linden property, and it was a nightmare. We had apartment #1B, the duplex in the building and at first we though we came up on a gem only for it to crumble in front of our eyes. Our basement flooded 4 times. Feces and gunk and water were all over our floor and furniture every single time. Garden did nothing about it but sound annoyed when we they had to hire cleaners. This building has a lot of shady things going on because only when we threatened to call 311 and take legal action did they do anything. However, they never fixed the plumbing issue in our basement so they most they did was "let us break our lease." We had built a little home here, and had to find an apartment, movers, and make it all happen in just o
