The elevator in this building(Flats on 5th)breaks down repeatedly and remains out of service for days at a time. This is not an isolated incident—residents have raised this issue multiple times, yet management has failed to take any meaningful or permanent corrective action. Temporary fixes are clearly not working, and the ongoing neglect shows a lack of concern for resident safety. At the time of leasing this apartment, management assured us that there were no ongoing issues with the elevator or other building facilities. However, within just a few days of moving in, it became clear that these assurances were inaccurate. The elevator began malfunctioning, frequently jamming and getting stuck between floors. Since then, elevator outages have become a recurring problem, often lasting for s

Flats on Fifth Ongoing maintenance issues, especially the elevator, which breaks down frequently—sometimes every other day. Residents are forced to climb multiple flights of stairs, creating serious inconvenience and safety concerns. Management made strong promises during leasing, but the reality does not match those assurances. Temporary fixes instead of permanent solutions. Proceed with caution before signing a lease.

I have lived here for almost two years, and have had an overall positive experience. The location is perfect if you work in healthcare in the Pittsburgh area! The area can be somewhat shady, but I’ve never felt unsafe. The apartments are decently affordable for the space and amenities included. In my experience, management is very receptive to any issues I have had while living here. Maintenance is extremely quick to resolve issues, though I haven’t had many. If you are a new graduate or starting fresh in Pittsburgh, the environment is great and they offer a lot of ways to meet the people in your building. All in all, I have no complaints and love living here!

The location makes the city easily accessible. There's a bus stop right outside of the entrance, and you can walk to downtown within 15-20 minutes if the weather permits. The area can be a bit shady, but its more desolate than dangerous throughout Uptown. The noise isn't as bad as other places I've lived. Any time I've had issues with the apartment, management was quick to fix it. Having an in-door garage is a big plus especially in the Winter. The Apartments themselves are nice; the walls can be thin but that's pretty much anywhere nowadays & noise complaints are taken seriously. Overall, its a solid spot if you're looking for a balance between location, price & convenience.

I've lived at Flats on Fifth for over 5 years and plan on staying longer. There are some downsides to the building but I feel the positive aspects outweigh the bad. Yes, the neighborhood is bad, but it gets better every year, and the building is very secure with an onsite security guard. The proximity to the city/the South side/ Oakland make this a very convenient place to live. The apartments themselves are very nice, with high end finishes and high ceilings. The apartments on the front of the building have views to die for. Equivalent apartment in other desirable neighborhoods cost a $1000 more so I believe this building is a great value. The management team is also very responsive and handle any issues as well as they can. TLDR - maybe not for front of heart, but if you can over
