Elán Coco Palms Apartments

They bought up most of the apartments in OB so they can set market rate. My rent increased $1000 in the last 5 years since Elán bought the apartment. Raising in the max legally allowed every year. Just bumped it up $250 last month, and my fridge went out. Instead of replacing the 10+ year old, $600 fridge, they tried to repair it 3 times so I’ve gone a month with a room temperature fridge. There’s greedy, then there’s Elán Musk apartments greedy. These people have no shame. And will bleed you for everything you have

The apartment was in top tip shape when I cams. All repairs were minor and fixed within a few days by the maintenance. The hot worked great for the majority of the time i lived here. Meagan and Mary are great managers and are on the property for the majority of the days so any problem quicklu gets taken care of. The laundry machines worked great. Also this is a great location. 5 stars

Way too expensive for what you get. It’s an older building with no heat or AC, so it boils in summer and is cold in winter. Tons of cigarette smokers in the building so my apt often reeked of cigarette smoke. The kicker— I had a 1300 deposit and after living there for only 8 months with a 3 yr old carpet, they claimed the carpet was damaged beyond use and needed to be replaced. They showed me pictures of “stains”— they were water marks from where I often set my cooler that I use for work after coming in at the end of the day. It probably had some condensation on it. So essentially I gifted Them a new carpet and I got about $500 of my deposit back. Total bs. There are much better places to live that won’t scam you! Avoid this place.

I wish there was a 0 star here but I guess I will put 1 star just because the apartment is close to everything but other than that I regret living at this apartment. The apartment is so old that you will hear whatever your neighbor is doing. We lived in the bottom floor so we can hear when the people upstairs is cooking, taking a shower, and flushing the toilet. The bedroom is next to where the piping for the bathroom and shower so it's annoying getting woken up for that. The building is old so you'll see how ugly it is inside. The building looks nice from the outside though. We had experience with fleas and carpet beetle and the property manager was aware of that. I suggest that since it's an old building they should tent the whole building to kill fleas and whatever insect is living ther

The location is literally the only thing this place has going. The amenities were broken or closed almost the entire time we lived there. The management did nothing about our complaints that people were not wearing masks in the common areas or laundry room and we are still fighting to have them return our rent deposit after almost 2 months. I would avoid any of the Elan Properties like the plague and if you do end up renting from them, be sure to document everything because you will end up in a fight. Make sure to make a video of your apartment before you leave. Just bad karma all around.
