El Caliente Apartments

Remember that reviews are significantly impacted by time. I'm writing this in Feb. of 2026 as maintenance crews are renovating apartments, replacing hallway glass, and generally updating the property. Seems to me like the management and maintenance have changed since many of these reviews were written. If you are considering living here, talk to the current management rather than relying on 5 year old reviews.

Please do not move here. My life has been put in danger by living in this apartment building. I’ve had homeless people trying to break in on the daily. I’ve called cops multiple times about it and even had a cops personal phone number in my phone to call in case of emergency, which is often. Also the maintenance has never fixed one light here (after multiple submitted work orders) and my window fell out on me after they helped *fix* it from people trying to break into my place. Never had one amenity here, washers on site don’t even work. This building smells horrible and is extremely dirty in the halls. Countless times I’ve seen cockroaches and thick spider webs in the hallways. Now they have the nerve to increase rent and they haven’t even updated one thing/amenity here. Please, again, b

The apartments are definitely a bit dated. With that being said, for the area, these are priced fairly (we paid $850/mo for a two bedroom for a year lease at the time of this review.) Meghan and her husband have been fantastic to work with, and very easy to get a hold of. They are attentive and always try to address any issues the best they can. Even let me into my apartment once or twice when I've forgotten my key without issue. Dealing with maintenance has been our biggest gripe with being here. I do know they are working on hiring more help for their maintenance though. But in the meantime, maintenance is slow to get to issues, and will show up and then never return to finish the job until I ask Meghan about it. So hopefully they'll have found some more help before you move in! :) Car

If could give this negative stars I would. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. No maintenance, and are trying to keep my deposit. Lost my rent relief checks both times i applied and got approved. Now they are trying to say I never paid. Lots of pests, and lazy management. 100% slumlord. Very cheap but not worth the lying and scheming they do. Additionally, the property manager is a 18 year old who knows the place is a junk yard and trolls people.

I have enjoyed staying at El Caliente apartments a lot. The location is great for being a student at the U, with buses traveling to the western edge of campus every 8 minutes, of which every other one goes around the northern edge of campus. Meghan has been really great about answering my questions about maintenance (which although currently understaffed has taken care of our needs). She also was very understanding when I signed up for online payments and then for what turns out to be a silly reason paid with check one month (I know it caused a little confusion and was less convenient for her). She also was straightforward in telling us that although there are washing machines on site, most folks don't use them, going to a nearby laundromat instead. The price has certainly been great for a
