They towed my car for $180 in CASH for being maybe 5 feet on their lot while two cars that take up the FIVE available spots for the apartment beside it have been sitting there for months. Again, I was hardly in their lot. They also charge $1600 a month for a 1 bed 1 bath in Richmond. Thank you Richmond slum lords for ruining my day.

Rented from Dickson for almost 2 years. Maintenance requests are always resolved quickly, but it can be hard to get in touch with the property manager directly. They didn't raise my rent when my lease renewed and they were flexible about the length of my lease after it auto-renewed. Overall, I would recommend.

I rented from Dickson twice, for one year in the Museum District in 2011, and recently moved out of an apartment in the Fan after 3 years. In 2011 I had a couple issues with notification to enter the property to show prospective tenants, but really nothing too serious. The past 3 years though I never had a problem. Any maintenance issues were promptly taken care of, the office was pleasant to work with, notification to show the property was always given at least 24 hours in advance, and in the end, handling of the security deposit was very reasonable. Being able to pay rent online was convenient too. I moved to a different part of town, but would definitely rent from Dickson again in the future.

I've rented with several different RVA property management companies before, both private and corporate, and my experience renting from Dickson Properties truly sets the bar. Tim Dickson Jr. is responsive, reasonable, and a genuinely conscientious landlord (if you've ever rented in Richmond before, you may know these are unfortunately not typical characteristics). Never had any maintenance issues, and once when I accidentally locked myself out of my apartment after office hours, I reached out to their emergency email and their maintenance guy was there in 20 minutes to help me get back inside. I rented for five years from a unit from Dickson Properties. Like any family owned business, our communications were personable and genuine. Maintenance requests are taken over email, and they are prompt to respond within 24 hours. My apartment was overall in great shape. I would recommend my unit and Dickson Properties to anyone looking for a rental place around the Fan area.
