Courts of Mount Vernon

This is the worst apartment complex that I have ever lived at. The landlord Remeo Mitchell is NEVER in the leasing office. He would disappear for hours at a time and we (tenants) were lucky to catch him. He has had pest control and other people that contract with Grady management enter the apartment without prior notice (as required by VA tenant law). I was getting dressed in the bathroom when I heard an unfamiliar voice come from around the corner and noticed that it was a man from the pest control company. This ordeal has frightened my daughter. He will attempt to redact messages that were already sent, and send out pest control notices AFTER THE FACT. We got a notice to remove a bicycle from our balcony but he allowed all kinds of junk from other neighbors including a whole stop sign. W

I’ve lived in a 3-bedroom unit at the Courts of Mount Vernon, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is absolutely infested. We’ve had mice and roaches constantly, and pest control has done little to nothing to resolve it, despite multiple requests. Even worse, there’s visible mold growing around the air conditioning vents—a serious health concern, especially for families with children. two windows are broken or don’t open at all, which is both a fire hazard and just plain unsafe. There’s no airflow, and management seems to ignore maintenance requests. On top of that, the water gets shut off randomly with no warning or communication—sometimes for hours. This entire housing complex is in terrible condition. It’s infested with mice, and the common areas are filthy. The stairwells constantly smell like weed because people smoke there all the time. The lack of cleanliness and maintenance is unbelievable, and management does nothing to fix these issues. Living here has been an awful experience, especially with my phobia of mice. No one should have to live in such dirty and unsafe conditions. I strongly advise against renting here — it’s not worth your money or your peace of mind.

Horrible maintenance, weed smells everywhere, infested with mice, run down,etc. Only good things are that schools are nearby and mostly quiet.

A cautionary tale! I rarely ever post on things but my experience here just warranted a review. A miserable experience in the end. The first year was possibly the only year I enjoyed there. The power and water always cuts off, seems like atleast once a month we lose one of the other that was the least of our worries. Since I stayed there the hallways smelled like marijuana, people have made homemade bonfires. Questionable people were outside the premises which made it scary to to come home late at night. Questionable people who work here as well. It seems like every 6 months there was new maintenance members.
