So they advertised a promotional discount off the first month’s rent which, despite being acknowledged I am entitled to it, I still have NOT received the amount after moving in 4 MONTHS AGO- so basically false advertising at this point. Contacted management several times over months over email, phone and in person, and verified eligibility repeatedly only to get asked for documents and “we’ll get back to you” Apartment building and unit is great. Management and staff has not been helpful or responsive… Watch out for the $65 mandatory wifi plan which is slow and blocks certain sites but you’ll still have to pay for! Edit: I eventually (after 4mths) received the remaining amount after my repeated inquiries with the apartment. I ended up calling the offsite team’s number and they resolved wi

I don’t enjoy writing bad reviews, but after 10 months of unresolved issues, poor management, and repeated lack of response from The Maxwell (Elme Communities), this needs accountability. I attached multiple images to verify everything I am about to share, all of which were shared with leasing and management—most were never acknowledged. Elme Communities has a 1.7-star Google rating, with most reviews citing the same issues: unresponsive staff and poor management. The Maxwell’s page also shows multiple recent 1-star reviews saying the same. This is not an isolated experience—it’s a pattern experienced by dozens over time. It is not changing. APPLICATION ISSUES: The leasing portal failed to accept my self-employment income documents despite meeting requirements. After days of calls, fail

The Maxwell has a convenient location close to the Ballston metro and shops. Unfortunately, my overall experience living here for one year was not good. Maintenance was fairly responsive to requests, but I had to place a large number of work orders during just a one-year lease. When I first moved in there was a persistent sewage odor coming from my bedroom closet. It came and went multiple times a day for several months and was extremely unpleasant. Despite multiple follow-ups with management, I never received a clear explanation or resolution. The smell only disappeared on its own after about four months. The amenities are disappointing for the amenity fee charged. The gym is outdated and poorly maintained and essentially the only amenity available. The freight elevator was also out of

Do not rely on verbal or email promises from management. They will say anything to get you into a unit, regardless of whether it is true or just misinformed. The location is undeniably great being close to everything you would need, but that is where the positives end. When it comes to actually living here, using the amenities, or spending time in your unit, there is very little worth recommending. Elevators: One elevator has been out of service for weeks, including the one near the loading dock. The only functioning elevator is heavily trafficked, cannot be reserved, and is nearly impossible to use for moving large items. Amenities: The gym is unkempt and outdated, and the courtyard is small, wedged between two buildings. Internet: If you work from home, beware. Management forces all

I have lived at this residence for the past three years, and the experience has drastically worsened since the property management changed to Elm Property. The property management is unresponsive via email and phone, so if you have any issues, you must be prepared to camp out by the leasing office on one of the very few days they are open and properly staffed. Management was previously open 6 days a week with consistent hours and dedicated resources which have now been cut back. I have been dealing with a broken HVAC unit for months, resulting in a lack of air conditioning during the summer and increased utility costs that are triple what they were previously due to poor functionality. Despite submitting over five maintenance requests, I am still trying to get a functioning HVAC system. D
