Do not move here. It may be the only affordable complex in the area but that’s for a reason. Property management is terrible. The owner is terrible. It’s really a shame because the building and apartments are pretty. Constant package theft, constant trespassing, inconsistent rent pricing for similar units, no rent portal, no maintenance portal, office never communicates with residents. We also had someone rip off side view mirrors and slash tires. Love that. As for amenities, just consider them to be none. Aerobic gym appliances do not work and are broken. They are cheap, second-hand purchases. There’s also no cleaning supplies in the gym and it’s pretty dingy up there. Very hot up there in the summer. The pool is hit or miss. Last summer we were not able to use the pool on multiple occ
Management will probably respond to this review saying they’ve fixed things. They haven’t. Lies. This review will be updated when management and the owner make this a better place to live for CURRENT RESIDENTS. On behalf of current tenants here: don’t do it. It looks cool, apartments have good light and high ceilings (1 star for those items only), and they say ALL the rights things to get you in the door. Like “the door buzzer system works” (it’s been broken apparently for years), “our package concierge is actually functioning” (it’s not), “the doors are always secure and the cameras work,” and “the gym equipment is functional,” etc etc etc ad infinitum. All lies. Recently there was a woman just living in the club room for days before she was found and then had to be removed by the police
I've lived in Cookie Factory Lofts for 2 years, and this week I am moving out. I have to be honest, I am going to miss the place. I had great neighbors next to me and above me. The location is prime; it is walking distance to many different bars and restaurants. We have grocery stores within walking distance (Whole Foods, Aldi, and Kroger), not to mention great museums like the Science Museum of Virginia, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Virginia History Museum, and the Children's Museum of Richmond. Overall, this review is based on my experience in my unit and at the Cookie Factory. Since day one, the facility has been super responsive. When I arrived, my blinds had rust on them. They came by the next day to measure for new blinds (since they were custom) and had them replaced within weeks.
UPDATE: A bunch of residents had their packages stolen and ransacked through less than 24 hours after this review was posted. This is what you can expect if you live here (check pics for the Facebook post about this) I'm hoping this review reaches people who are considering moving here. As you can tell by other reviews, there are serious issues here. I moved in under the false pretense of advertised amenities and features being operational or being repaired. It's been months and no repairs have happened. When you tour, they'll advertise the gym (literally none of the equipment works), the package lockers (they have never been operational with the exception of maybe a 40 day period when they worked this fall, only to stop working with no repair or communication about it), the pool (was ran
We moved into the Cookie Factory Lofts June of 2020. We've had a great experience here and absolutely love our apartment (especially our window)! The entire building has so much character and almost every apartment is different. Tyler and Susan (management of Cookie Factory Lofts) are always extremely quick to respond to any issues or questions that have popped up. Aside from the building, the location is amazing. We are a short walk to any of the popular breweries/restaurants in Scott's Addition. Our window overlooks River City Roll so on the weekends, we get to enjoy the music and concerts they have there. I appreciate the care that the owners/management have put into the upkeep of the building. They recently hired a company to come and clean the outside of all windows here and I could
